I had a Rivers boot with this sort of sole and it wore down to the wood in about 3 months of very light walking around an office. You get what you pay for.

    • Was it this boot though?

      • Not this exact one, it had a zipper instead of a buckle but same profile and individual parts I would guess.

    • eh same with with some JMs for 3 times the price.

For an office shoe, I wear a lace-less hush puppies with an additional sole on top of the already comfortable base. Feel so good so far. Worth the ~$100.

I wear Hush Puppies also. Definitely worth.

    • Did you wear them to work and also on way back home outside of office too?

I might have stopped in at the shops on the way home with them on, but I don't walk home or walk around much as part of my job so my point was more that they wore very quickly.

        • Sure. In three months you should be able to walk a lot for the rrp you would think, even for this price.

Scored 2 pairs of Wild rhino boots for around $70 a fortnight ago. Made in Portugal too.

    • this is the only brand i've had a sole rip off a shoe, and in less than a year.
it was glued poorly… and they claim it was wear and tear.

      • I have a few pairs of these and never had a problem.

DJs had good looking $199 Wild rhino boots down to $42 at mid year sale last year. Worth checking out this year. Love mine bought then.

I could be wrong but Rivers has been selling low quality stuffs for the last many years. They used to be good but not now anymore.

I guess it depends on what you are buying. For everyday stuffs, I guess they are OK.

    • Agree. The average quality of their footwear has gone down, maybe trying to keep up with cheap light footware going around.

They still sell some decent quality leather boots/shoes/sandles that they offer a 24 month warranty for if your a Rivers member,

but they are becomming less in their range and full price not so cheap ( good when reduced or on clearance though ).

    • agree.

  • Online only, or also in store?

Buy 1 pair of Rm's, will last the next 10 years before re-soling it.

Used to do the old work shoe shuffle every couple of years, now i'm on RM's i haven't looked back.

    • The photo looks nothing like the shoe. Very poor quality in person.

      • Wouldn't expect anything less from rivers

  • Did anyone get there's yet?..

I called their customer support number and they hit me with a 'oh sorry actually that item is in backorder and we don't have it in stock. We'll give you a refund instead'.

Seems like they're happy to hold onto your money until you call them first….

      • I got mine today finally

Congrats, guess I was the unlucky one! How are they?

@songsong: I just check their website looks like few sizes left in black and tan. Honestly a lot better than i was expecting! They don't over-heat .. I've had that problem before with boots n work (even though its just in the office). Plus the zip just makes life easy not having to bother with shoelaces daily - compared to my usual hush puppies they're not as soft but nothing a decent sole couldn't fix. So far so good.. but time will tell! I've just ordered a size 12 tan set while their on sale
