Are these better than the normal bookshelf ones?

    • Do you mean these vs a particular pair of bookshelves? These have upward firing drivers for Atmos height channels.

      • I admit my question was stupid, I couldn't find any photos to see how these speakers were connected compared to the normal pioneer bookshelf speakers which I already have a pair. This has the double set of terminals on the back of each speaker - i cbf dealing with that, the normal ones are fine. I will probably just buy a second pair of them.

Not stupid at all! You were referring to the SP-BS22!

        • Not stupid, bud.

    • Good question. I was going to ask if they came with band 28 or cable ties but didn't want to look stupid.

I still don't think that doors for me though…

Upward firing atmos is a waste of money. I’ve had one before and it’s useless for simulating above the head effects.

Changed to a ceiling mounted speaker and it’s a world of difference.

    • Hey, are you running 7.1 with two ceiling mounted centre left and right speakers?

      • I’m running a 5.1.4 setup.

        4 overhead speakers in ceiling

    • Depends on how good the bounce is

Never will beat physical located speakers but not everyone can install overhead speakers

      • That’s true that not very one can put overhead ceiling speakers.

I find the best test of a bounce is to ask someone to simulate as an Atmos speaker by yelling at the ceiling. You sit where you normally would and see if you can tell the direction of the voice.

Chances are, you can’t identify the direction of the voice coming from the top. :)

If you can’t get overhead speakers, just save the money and put towards upgrading other weak points in your system. Atmos has super minimal influence in a movie and I’ve only experienced a handful of movies that utilises good atmos. Mind your, it’s usually only a small fraction in those movies that has the atmos effect. Probably not more than 10 mins.

    • Hoping to change to ceiling mounted 100% waste of time from experience
