[PC] Free - Ken Follett's The Pillars of The Earth, Deponia: The Complete Journey, The First Tree @ Epic Games (16/4 - 23/4)

3010

Next week’s freebies from Epic games. As usual, available from Friday 2am AEST.

Info from Steam -

Ken Follett's The Pillars of the Earth -

12th century, England: In a time of poverty and war, a small town begins the construction of a cathedral to claim wealth and safety for its people. In their struggle to survive, lives and destinies intertwine. Based on Ken Follett's world-bestseller ‘The Pillars of the Earth’.

Deponia: The Complete Journey -

Junk, junk and even more junk. Life on the trash-planet Deponia is anything but a walk in the park. No surprise that Rufus had enough of that and hatches one ludicrous plan after the other to escape this bleak place.

The First Tree

A beautiful, 3rd-person exploration game centered around two parallel stories: a fox trying to find her missing family, and a son reconnecting with his estranged father in Alaska. Uncover artifacts from the son's life as he becomes intertwined in the fox’s journey towards The First Tree.

Yes, because if she knew you, she would accuse you of rape 20 years later when she needs some money and you are well-off.

Highly recommend reading The Pillars of the Earth. Great book.

    • I started it a while ago then for some reason I put it down for something else and never went back. Every time I see the game it reminds me that I have to go back to the book again - I did really enjoy the little that I actually read of it.

    • I played the game before reading the book. Echo dreamstation's comment, great book, game is fun too. There is even a TV series for those that are interested

The entire trilogy is excellent. There is also now a prequel to Pillars of the Earth called The Evening and the Morning that I've just started on Audible and so far it's great.

The British TV adaptation of Pillars of the Earth is also pretty good.

      • thanks for the prequel tip, just reserved it at my local library!

    • Agreed… quite liked it, could be a bit too long for some though :)

  • Read the book over 10 years ago. This deal is a reminder to read it again!

The Deponia series is the closest experience I have ever had to playing the Monkey Island games again, strongly recommend for any fans of the old point and click LucasArts games.

This comment convinced me immediately, thanks! Monkey Island was one of my first gaming loves, playing it on a PC which had no hard drive so I had to hot swap the floppy discs.

The me for the heads up. I will definitely load it up now. Loved those back in the day.

I actually miss those ‘piracy prevention’ days where you had to find a word on page of the manual or use the included paper spin wheel.

        The good ol' "Dial-a-pirate".

Also, guessing the answers to the questions at the start of Leisure Suit Larry to prove that you're an adult even though you're about 9.

  • The TV series was also very good

Hey was there no freebie this week?

    • Read my earlier comment.

There is. 3 out of 10 Season 2.
Just go to the Epic Store page and you will see it there.

    /remindme 12 hours

  • lol, I thought there is a typo in the title which says that the complete journey contains only the first three games and excludes the Doomsday ;)

  • I missed these, I tried yesterday but they ended early I guess.
