  • Did anyone manage to snag the 920 in the ALDI sale last month? If I was willing to spend $400 that would have been a damn good deal… wondering how scarce stock was though.

Stock at Aldi seemed pretty good at most larger stores but demand was also strong…I know of three stores that had lines for opening time but all customers were able to get one with many stores keeping stock throughout the day. By the end of day however 99% sold out.

      • Wow, that’s interesting. I guess times have changed a bit because it feels like not so long ago where there’d be an article on the news about how an ALDI special buy ran out because stores only had like 3 of a certain item.

        Thanks for the information!

Could depend on the supplier too…Deebot might’ve wanted to offload a heap so Aldi got lucky. Definitely some specials only see a few items per store so many miss out. This special I guess Aldi knew demand would be strong and they could move a boat load and got help from Deebot.

Dont get this confused with T8 Aivi. They are 2 different models.

  • I'm super confused with robot vacs. Which one has mopping and obstacle avoidance, yet is good enough for a 2 bedroom apartment?

    • +1

We've been using the Ecovacs Deebot 950 for a two bedder. Mops and vacuums. Can't fault it.

    • Depends on what you mean by Obstacle Avoidance and how big the obstacle is.

Most robot vacs will do Obstacle Avoidance to a certain degree depending on how big the object is and can the LIDAR sensor see it.
There are some more advanced Robot Vacuums which have a forward facing camera and the smarts in it to actually do real obstacle avoidance even on smaller objects that aren't picked up via the LIDAR / MAPPING sensor on the top.

The main ones which have this forward facing camera are:
      Roborock S6 MaxV
Shark AI Robot Vacuum RV2001 (don't think this is available in Australia)
Robovac T8 Aivi (not the regular T8 that is posted here)
Samsung JetBot 90 AI+ (yet to be released)

    • Ecovac Deebot 920 would be perfect, same as the 950 just a smaller battery which is fine for a 2 bed place.
