Looking for a Secure Wall or Desktop Mount for an Android Tablet

I'm looking for a secure wall mount, or maybe a desktop mount with an arm, for a 7-8" touch-screen Android tablet. It doesn't need to be absolutely vandal-proof, but it will be used in a factory type setting by employees, so it needs to be solid.

I was in the tool shop in Bunnings yesterday, and they had something like what I want for product demonstrations, but the staff there at the time knew nothing about it, and it wasn't even turned on. It looked like it was basically two sheets of aluminium sandwiching the tablet, with hex-head machine screws in each corner holding it together, and a short round arm/tube curving down and bolted onto the shelf.

I couldn't see any brand name or other identifying information on it. There were small slots/cutouts on the sides and I could see connectors inside, so these were probably for the power/usb ports, although the cables themselves were routed inside the unit, and then I guess down the tube at the rear. The front of the unit (other than the screen) was covered with a (polycarbonate?) sticker with alternating yellow and black diagonal stripes.

Does anyone know where this (or anything else similar) could be purchased?

I've googled for information, and found the following web sites, but none of them seem to have exactly what I have in mind:

https://www.arkon.com/
https://www.redarc.com.au/ram-mounts/tablet

Next time I go to Bunnings, I'll see if I can find a friendly manager who might be able to point me in the right direction :-)

  • We have a couple at my workplace but no manufacturers stamps or stickers anywhere on the stand. I looked recently out of curiousity to see how much they were but my attempts were fruitless.

Ours contain full size iPads so probably just a generic item.

  • I am interested in similar (without an arm) but for mounting a tablet on the front of my fridge. Can't afford the expensive fridges with that built in but have a spare tablet and thought it would be handy for shopping lists, google calendar, etc.

I use 3x Command hook for this.
Locate it closer to the edge to fit/hide the charging cable. Mine’s always charging. Make sure the hook is big enough so you can still slide the tablet with ease.

      • Interesting solution, brokenenglish, but I don't think it's going to work in a factory-type scenario.

      • That is what I was thinking as well. Cheers for the response.

Maybe something like these would work for you on your fridge door?

How were you planning to charge the tablet on your fridge door?

      • Oh I like that. Thanks for the suggestion.

  • Pretty sure Officeworks sell what you are after.

    • I searched their web site without seeing anything secure enough, but thanks for posting.

    There's always the very expensive option of a purpose-built panel mount "tablet" - e.g. https://www.touchtecs.com/industrial-android-all-in-one-pc/ , https://www.directindustry.com/prod/winmate-inc/product-3578…

Alternately, does your factory employ maintenance tradies? They could build what you're describing easily.

  • Probably a long shot, but could you walk into a Telstra/Optus/Vodafone/Apple/Samsung etc store and look at the ones they use for displays and Google them? Or ask the store who makes them? Or ask them if you can buy one off them?

    • From my recollection of what I've seen in mobile phone stores, that's not really what I'm looking for, but thanks for the suggestion.
