  • So without lidar mapping or infrared beacons like roomba has how do you wall off areas that you don't want vacuumed?

    • close the door

    • The 35c comes with 2m of magnetic tap and detects that, but I don't think the 11s can detect it, so yes, close the door.

"Great dumb vacuum" review says it all!

  • 1300PA suction power is far too low. In the market now, most robot cleaner has 2500 to 3000PA.

My 35c (that cost me $99) has 1500Pa and it works well on hard floors and picks up the loose stuff off carpets. Not really meant for "cleaning" carpets though - no robot vacuum is ever going to match even a mediocre proper vacuum.

I am not aware of any budget robot vacuum that has 2500-300Pa of suction. It is only the more costly models that have that kind of power - like Roborock S6 MaxV that has 2500Pa and costs $1000. The Robovac L70 has 2200Pa and costs about $800.

  • This is not meant to be a $2000 robot vacuum cleaner. It is what it is and should do a reasonable job for your money.I have an Xiaomi C1, it mops, vacuums on hard floors and carpet. I close doors, put up barriers - Too easy. They will never totally replace the real vacuum and mop pushed by a real person. For spotting and giving the place a fresh face, they cannot be beat. Buy it, try it, don't decry it!

    • The C1 maps though doesn't it? I have the Old Xiaomi/Roborock (can't remember if it's the C1 but it was about that price from memory) and for the extra 80 bucks I would hands down recommend that over this thing, which has all the intelligence of a 1980s child's toy that just bumps around the house until the batteries run out (OK maybe a bit harsh, but in comparison to the mapping vacs)

To be honest I don't know. I get it ready and plonk it in a room and press go. I do not use a remote control and especially do not use an Android App! Every now and again I watch Rob wizz around the room and when he has finished and misses the charging port 7/10 times, I charge him and give him a clean for being a good boy. What I will say about him, he is gentle and only slightly touches things, not like the wife!

At the “$300ish when discounted” price I think the Viomi is a better buy.
