Any problem with Chinese version? I assume it won’t be able to use Australian 5G correct?

Major difference is No wireless charging
      https://www.reddit.com/r/oneplus/comments/mrjk0g/whats_the_d…

      5G bands on CN version

      1, 3, 28, 41, 78, 79 SA/NSA - CN

      and on EU version

      1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 20, 28, 38, 40, 41, 66, 78 SA/NSA - EU

The 5G bands being used in australia are:

      78, 40, 28, 5

So the EU version has more compatible 5G bands than the CN version.

      • oh holy crap no wireless charging is huge… it's a dealbreaker for me. honestly rather not have 5G (for now in 2021 at least) than not have wireless charging.

    • No problem with 5G n78, but lacks 4G Band 28

  • Chinese version, don't they have global version for sale?

Better to get your hands on Le2123 Global model. It might not hard to find now but within few weeks or a month there will be abundant supply. Last price I saw for global model was $1404 at Expansys. Little expensive but more compatibility.

  • As per specifications, it comes with wireless charging feature. But anyone please guide me on 5G feature support in Australia. Thanks!

    • arghh conflicted with the above comment. it's a tie for whether there's wireless charging or not!

  • if it's like the OP8 pro - it'll support 5G cos n78 band is there but requires a bit of tinkering to actually make work.

anyone interested, have written up instructions that work for the OP8 Pro here -> https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/volte-and-vowifi-in-austr…

Just be mindful that this needs to be done after each system update is applied/rolled out & also the back door method in achieving this currently works but has no gaurantees will continue to work after subsequent system updates if OnePLus patch and close off that access path.

    • why would they do this?

would it not be a selling point to include this 5g support?

pretty lame to need to keep doing this hack every time you update.
and no guarantee that it will not be patched off

      • great question.. my only guess is because the phone was not designated for an AU market so for whatever reason they 'patched; off that functionality even though the phone supports it.

TBH - I really like my OP8 pro but it'll be my last OnePlus cos the hassles of not gauranteed functionality and/or the looming chance they'll kill off back door access paths makes it an expensive gamble for our market.

  • OnePlus has stop being a flagship killer nowadays with these prices

  • So LE2120 is the Chinese one and LE2123 the EU (and that's the one we want). The LE2125 is the US one. The Chinese with Global rom isn't enough to cover all Australian frequencies.
