Costco Return Information (Downy Fabric Softener)

Hi,

I am new to Costco, but if I remember correctly at least their own Kirkland products say that you can return them, if not satisfied.

Wondering if it’s the same with others. I bought Downy fabric softener, used it for two loads (to be sure) and it doesn’t suit us.

Don’t want to abuse their generosity, but wondering if that’s something I could return.

Thank you!

  • I’m not sure as I’ve never tried it.

It suggests possibly yes on this page, though doesn’t state if the item needs to be unopened. https://www.costco.com.au/member-care/refunds-and-return/wha…

I reckon Costco can give you the answer: https://www.costco.com.au/contact-us

  • I think you can.

They did change the electrical satisfaction one, AFAIK because people were abusing it, unfortunately. But, I mean realistically it doesn’t make a lot of sense to have a satisfaction policy on TV’s years after, you know, if you’re not happy with it by then, sort of thing.

But they’re usually pretty good with returns.

I think Costco would be the best people to ask, maybe call them?

Obviously OP was told to seek professional advice from ozbargain.com.au first.

  • Yeah take it back. You will be fine and you will get a refund. Even if you don't like the smell

You don't like something so you want Costco to wear the cost of that? Why not just give it away?

Are you seriously suggesting that someone should take personal responsibility for a choice they made? Shame on you!

    • It's the costco model - google economics of retail loyalty costco

they prefer you to come back and buy more rather than ditch the membership because of one bad experience (and never come back ever)

      • I understand why Costco offer the refund but the cost is eventually borne by all Costco consumers.

        • is it though? If the OP didn't come back to Costco because of their bad experience they make no more sales from them. However, in another option they refund their $30 product - OP is happy and now they continue to spend over the next 10-20 years thousands of dollars…

          That should cover the $30

  • I think Costco won’t bat an eyelid with the return. However, just how petty will you feel?

  • Hi looking to buy a new office chair from Costco , what the chance of refund if I don't like it after a week of using it to work from home? I have a picky back that only likes certain chairs
