If only they didn't come in 1980s black or walnut colour.

Hey, these speakers will make your eye close and take you to another world :).

      • Not sure how to start…
Took delivery a couple of days ago, misses and kids currently out…
With no live music in last year…
        ########### !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In short VERY happy, thank you for your post!
Only regret is not getting more than two!
Haven't tried with my 500c … Still waiting for it to arrive…
        Oh thanks again,πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ

… the golden age of hi-fi

  • +10

I quite like the 1980's styling of the speakers. I actually prefer it to the rather unimaginative piano black/high gloss white

    • +2

Are you calling 1980s black or walnut veneer imaginative? :)

      • I need some to match my microwave.

There are a few players to this market that are also worth considering for anyone considering spending this much on speakers. Definitely check out Q Acoustics 3030i (stock running low in Aus) for a similar price, especially if you like your bass and not planning to use a subwoofer. Also check out the Wharfedale Diamond 12.2 speakers for a more refined, neutral sound.

IMHO The QA's are the top bookshelf speaker choice for home theatre set up as they have tonal warmth straight out of the box. Could be had for a discount last year but not so in 2021 where stock is hard to come by.

      • how is tonal warmth preferred over horn loaded drivers for home theatre?

        • +1

To be it briefly, Klipsch are too sharp at the top end for my liking. The QA's have far greater warmth and perfect for home theatre needs at a lower price point.

          YMMV.

Here's a youtube comparison of the Klipsch RP 600M vs Q Acoustics 3030i, bearing in mind the need to compare the speakers in real life to make a fair comparison (which I have done).

    • You left out kef q350

    • This Klipsch speakers has much wider sound stage which I prefer.

      • +1

Really? Kef has uniq driver, almost everyone on the net say it has better soundstage than klipsch

  • Thanks OP picked up a pair.

    • +1

Only one pair :), I picked up 2.

  • Only issue is what happens if you need a warranty repair? That would be such a massive headache to send back to Amazon US.

This exact model was analysed by the most respected (objectivist) speaker reviewer on the internet, Amir from AudioScienceReview.

    Conclusions

Out of the box, the Klipsch RP-600M throws out the rule book, thinking that if you just sold boosted lows and highs and leaving mids behind is a good idea. It is not. Objective and subjective testing shows this to be a horrible choice ranking the speaker as one of the worst I have tested. Dial in some simple EQ though and the speaker transforms into a beauty. The "horn" is actually not a horn but a waveguide that is doing its job to provide uniform off-axis response allowing one to EQ the mid-range dip.

Since I have to score the speaker as designed, it gets my worst rating of "stay away." If you have ability to EQ, and you better do if you are hanging around this forum, then you have a good offering.

    • In fewer words, a stinker. Proves, perception != performance.

  • Thanks OP, bought. Always wanted to try something a bit 'high-end' and could not resist. Price is almost 50% off compared to local prices.

Could someone please recommend a good pair of speaker stands for these.

For those willing to wait for a deal (I got mine for $849 from Audio Junction) you will probably be better off with the below. Every review you'll find online and on you tube puts them at the top of the pack in the sub ~$1500 category. I replaced my soundbar and sub with these things and am so happy. Plus the oak ones look like they're from this century!

    • I did read your message, looked at comparisons.
Not real keen on waiting or spending more than $760 …
      Appreciate your opinion thoughπŸ™‚

    • The BWs would be a great option - please post if they ever go to that price again.

  • Ok I'm really needing someone to convince me not to buy these…
    Strong fact based argument!
    Anybody???
    I have a Pioneer VSX-933 amp !
    Thanks in advance

Well reviewed, go for it. Just be aware they sound bright.

      • Thanks Budju, I did pull trigger πŸ™‚
I've been wanting update for quite awhile!
        I think these are worthy!

        • +1

If it makes you feel better I paid $1k for a pair of comparable quality speakers. This is a good price

          • @Budju: Thank you Budju, I appreciate your opinion. Now I'm thinking to match a good center speaker with these…
            Maybe a RP-500C ??
Popular opinion steers me too stay with Klipsch…
            What do you think?
            What do you have?
            πŸ™‚

            • +1

@M8TY: I guess the 500c at current amazon price seems good for a centre and will match the other speakers
