  • I presume usb c required for 4k 60hz? Not on this particular hub, but any other hub too.

I'd like to get an old laptop to play nicely on my 4k monitor. It only has one usb 3.0 port.

    • Pretty sure a laptop that supports DP 1.4 Alt Mode is required for 4k 60Hz, which means USB-C/thunderbolt 3.

If it only has a USB 3.0 port (i.e. the older USB-A shaped ones), then no chance.

    • Any of Mini DiplayPort or HDMI port?
If yes you could get a adaptor cable easier/cheaper than a USB A 4k30hz dongle.

      • It has a mini dp, but the internal graphics card is hd4000. So as far as i understand I'd need cpu rendering to get the required resolution and refresh rate? Which means a usb solution?

I'm currently using mini dp to hdmi adaptor and only getting 1920x1080 to an external monitor

        • +1

Check your laptop specs for its highest possible resolution, and make sure you install the latest drivers for it.

Try a Mini DP to DP cable straight to the monitor, and don't convert to HDMI.

If necessary, turn off the laptop's own display when you connect the external monitor.

          Good luck!

    • Now just have USB C Hub, If need, we will send stock to Amazon soon

  • The HDMI port on the 60hz 8-in-1 hub does not work for some lenovo laptops.

    • The USB C host must USB C 3.1

      • Does it not support Thunderbolt (4)?

  • I bought the 8-in-1 hub for my MacBook Air M1, I'd assume it's fully compatible since it works with older MacBook airs but does anyone have experience?

    • Yes, it can work with MacBook Air M1

    • Please share with us your experience.
My main concern - too many bricked M1 around by various brands.

  • +1

    description & confusing are confusing.
is it gigabit or 10/100 Mbps

"Offering full 10/100 Mbps Gigabit Ethernet performance over the RJ45 Ethernet port ensures you a stable, wired Internet connection."

    • It is 100 Mbps, backward compatible 10 Mbps

      • So, to be clear, it's not Gigabit Ethernet?

        • Not poster but definitely not gigabit

          • @JMxoxo: TBF - unless you're wired to an internal network (media streaming), how many of us have gigabit connections… most NBN premises still max out at 100mbps.

            But bad marketing from OP.

            • @donkeyhokey: @donkeyhokey - yeah pretty much. And even then, if you’re home network is good enough, wifi should be alright.

          • @JMxoxo: I bought one a couple of weeks ago and was doing a file transfer internal to my network and thought mine was faulty as it maxed out at around 100Mbps. I was expecting the port to be 1Gbps as stated in the description.

  • How’s this with an XPS13 9300?

    • +2

      Yes, It can work

      • Can you confirm if it works with an M1 MacBook Air?

        • +1

Yes, it also works with M1 MacBook Air

  • +2

would this work with Chromecast with Google TV?

    • +1

No, it can not work with Chromecast with Google TV

      • did you actually try it with Chromecast with Google TV?

  • +1

I am using this with my Macbook M1 air, plugged into a 27" 1080p Samsung monitor. if i accidentally move the hub, the screen will go blank for a sec.

if I use white screen too much, like word/excel/ppt, it has a slight static sound coming out from this hub, however if i switch to dark mode, it is ok.

    Anyone has similar experience?

    • At least one of the Amazon reviews mentioned similar issues too.

  • For the 4k@60Hz hub, what's the refresh rate for a 2k monitor?

  • Received this today.. couldn't get 60hz on 4k.. was stuck at 23/24….. Anyone else?
