So Much for The Tesla Driverless Car

Comments

  • No matter how smart the car is, dumbass drivers will always find a way to kill themselves, such is the depth of human stupidity.

One Tesla crash gets all the sheepies up in arms like headless chickens

Fifty Ford/Mazda/Jeep crashes no one seems to be an eyelid.

    ………………

Society has not progressed beyond the Salem witch hunts of the 1600s

I've always thought that the driverless car was impossible. Freeways are easy. I cannot fathom a driverless car trying to navigate through some of Sydney's older suburbs. Can you imagine a driverless car going through Newtown? Impossible!

  • For people who don't think cars has enough processing power and/or sensors to detect and/or react to change, have a look at GTC 2021 keynote here: ( https://youtu.be/eAn_oiZwUXA?t=5721 ) it is the same technology that drives the processing power required by crypto mining and it will soon be available to car manufacturer at cheaper cost.

And Starlink project by SpaceX (a sister company of Tesla) ( https://www.businessinsider.com.au/spacex-starlink-satellite… ) aims to enable high speed global FULL coverage of connection in next 5-10 years with 12k smaller low orbit satellites. Many have been launched already. Expect the future self-driving car to have "hawk-eye" view as they will be always connected to the "skynet".

But before any AI can solve the "Trolley problem" without getting me killed if I am "the few" (https://theconversation.com/the-trolley-dilemma-would-you-ki…) , I won't have my life depended in it.
