Not Shure if this is a bargain…

Just remember, you will need XLR cable, microphone stand/arm, pre-amp, and cloudlifter….That's a lot of money to drive this thing

cloudlifter isn't essential and there are cheaper options to boost your gain. I have my SM7B running direct into my Scarlett 8i6 and so far haven't felt the need to boost gain.

      • This is correct. Your preamp will determine if a cloud lifter is necessary or not.

  • If you can live with a bit of EMI/RFI, then get an SM57 or SM58

    • Not the best recommendation, they're not really comparable. SM57 is good on amps and drumkits, and less hassle live, SM58 is great for vocals live. The SM7B blows both out of the water for studio recording though.

      • Agreed. It totally depends on the use case. I have all 3 and give students my SM57s with A81WS (instead of my precious SM7B) for their podcast projects and it seems fine (depending on if their audience are audiophiles or not).

Makersmuse did a review on the $39 Kmart one. Which is the whole package. Really good for the price

    • Good to know, but not really in the same league.

he compared it to his professional one which was almost identical.

        • That is a USB gaming mic. It's not in the same league as a quality XLR mic from Shure.
I stand by my comment that while the Kmart mic my be suitable for gaming or vlogging, the Shure is going to shit all over it in terms of working with proper preamps and audio interfaces, and sound quality.
