Big Red Tech… hmmm, big red flag???

What's the worst that can happen?

They take all your personal information and steal it to sell on the darkweb?

Oh sorry ShopBack didn't mean to call you out

        • China?

    • +1

They put these listings up on the market hoping that Amazon will automatically match them and they can buy as much as they can during the match. Anyone who actually orders will get cancelled due to a "systems glitch" or "we were hacked"

      • -1

looks like Kogan is holding onto my $1,000 until it refunds

        • Did you get an order cancellation?

          • @thehub: nothing yet…
I'll comment if cancelled or fulfilled

            Ahh, a $340 rog G15…. what a dream, if only it's true

  • This seller seems too suss. Everything they're selling are super cheap.

    • Hacked!!

  • PS4 Slim
    Cheap $59

    • They have a bunch of expensive electronics for about $50, I know it's a typical scam but an idiotic part of me wants to roll the dice 😅 $350 RTX 3060 laptop yeah right these orders are getting cancelled.

      • +2

lmao i got that laptop just then. Roll the dice. buy with a credit card for protection.

        • debit card works fine too for protection as long as it is MASTERCARD or VISA CARD

      • Getting cancelled is one thing, I'm more worried about how long they gonna hold the refund and god knows what they might do with those data.

    • SOLD OUT

    • +1

surely not… if all their products are mispriced/cancels for 'error' surely their marketplace account on kogan will be cancelled?

  • I picked up a 15$ Raspberry Pi 8gb from these same guys this morning, interesting if they fulfill.

  • LOL https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/itz-hp-envy-x360-13-ar0053au-fl…

This seller is either hacked up or surely (profanity) around with people with fake junk

    • +1

But that still doesn't stop ppl from buying it.

      • Visa/Paypal/Kogan protection comes

        Getting fake goods for free

They say it's PBTech, but on their website it's much over a grand
      https://www.pbtech.com/au/product/NBKHNB130053/HP-Envy-x360-…

      • Bought one too dunno why lol but too cheapppp hope everything is legit @@

  • I Have bought a couple laptops using paypal/visa card lets see them canceling order, refunding or sending fake rubbish or what happens

  • I saw this seller and nearly bought out their entire stock of Tile products.
Tried paying with Latitude Pay linked with 28 Degrees, payment declined.
No idea why, the payment worked yesterday with that card, maybe they know something I dont.

Anyways, I decided its too risky and after looking at their other items I was convinced this seller is scamming so I'm out.
You'd probably get like mini rubber models of the real item or something lol.

      • It takes a lot for Kogan to move.

I had a delivery from BUD(?) through the marketplace. Was a 24 pack of ginger beer cans. Box arrived completely destroyed via Australia Post "faults" centre. There was 15 cans left and a bunch of shrapnel in a satchel dropped off by Australia Post.

BUD didnt want to move on it - damage in transit is not our responsibility. You need to submit a claim with Australia Post (I was the receiver; not sender). Kogan did absolutely nothing. They kept replying to my emails showing me the tracking from Australia post, which incidentally had "sent to sorting centre damaged goods" … "contacting sender for redelivery" etc and saying it's been delivered.

It took the better part of 2 months but the seller eventually gave me a refund.

        • +1

happened same with me too vchain global ecommerce never got my item got a efund in final after 2 months

The seller profile says: Sold and delivered by PB TECHNOLOGIES LIMITED (ABN 46 844 847 689)

Seems like a legit company? They also have their own website: https://www.pbtech.com/au/about

However, the prices are just completely too good to be true, so personally I'm just holding off for now I think.

  • +2

Just a little disclaimer to all.

Quite a bit of your personal information is provided when you purchase these dodgy products.

    Are you okay with that?

Normally I jump on these risky deals, but this is too suss.

    • I've bought from Kogan before. How is this differen?

      • Aren't you providing the 3rd party "Big Red Tech" your details also?

Your name, address, and phone number etc can be sold to spammers

        • +1

Good point! Might be time to dust off that old burner phone number of mine I always forget to use. At least I use a separate email for online shopping

      • +3

In normal situations you are buying from a legitimate seller, and get the product you pay for.
Knowingly giving a scammer your money and information “for sh!ts and giggles” is like happily giving a Nigerian scammer your money and information. Buyer protection is great, but only protects your money, not your information, and only once you have proved the product hasn’t arrived.
That said, PB Technologies seem like a legit company which is confusing.

(There is an old scam where they ship you a $0.30 plastic whistle or something, so that they can provide postage tracking details, and generally run you around before they are pressured to refund money to Kogan, who gives it to you. In the six weeks of mucking around, they have since taken the money, collapsed the business and someone is left high and dry. Probably Kogan in this instance).

Man Kogan Marketplace is becoming even worse than Facebook marketplace LOL.
