Cashrewards Cashback on Mobile Phones @ Amazon AU

I'm a bit confused. Bought a phone from Amazon (UK through AU) on Wednesday and the click tracked through cash rewards but is not showing up as a cashback. I went to have a look at the T&Cs and found this:

Category: Mobile Phones & Wearable Tech 4.00%
Category: Electronics 0.00%

Electronics includes (but not limited to) Bluetooth Speakers, Bluetooth Head & Earphones, Stereo Components, Speakers and Other Electronics. It excludes (but not limited to) TVs, PCs & Accessories, Printers, Projectors, Musical/Recording Equipment, Blu-ray Players, Game Consoles, Mobile Phones & Accessories, Soundbars (which may fall under different categories).

This reads to me that mobile phones are not included in electronics and should be eligible.

  • The best people to answer this would be CR, send them a ticket or PM TA.

    • I'm glad OP go straight to ACCC. And agree PMing the rep is good start.

      • +1

        You are missing does/did not.

        • Yup I miss the "didn't" before "go straight"

I'm not even fast enough to edit and type "and that also depends if the seller categories the item correctly"

    • Thanks. I fount the contact page but it says:

'Send a Claim' option is not available for clicks dated within 7 days or after 60 days.

Now I understand why there is no claim button. I'll wait till the 7 days is up.

  • I don't think CR have any control as to what category sellers list their items. Buyer beware.

    • and the Amazon cashback categories change so you have to record (screenshot) when purchasing to prove that the cashback was valid. I've given up on Amazon for cashback as they decline most purchases.

      • Agreed. I only made sure I was clicking thru as it was a $300+ purchase, not normal stuff.

  • "I have reviewed your order details and can see that the item you purchased falls under Electronics Category. Unfortunately, the store offers 0% cashback for this category and this has resulted in your purchase not being reported in your Cashrewards account as it is eligible to receive rewards from the store.

I'd like to note that Amazon Australia, not Cashrewards, decides on category product inclusions and exclusions.

I have included the link to the store beneath for you to review. https://www.cashrewards.com.au/amazon-australia

Your understanding is greatly appreciated, if you have any questions or concerns just let us know.

    Have a lovely day."

I spoke to tight arse, and has looked after me with some goodwill while they investigate with Amazon.

This is why i still use cash rewards and not those other shonksters…
