  • As always, happy to answer any questions.

    • I've received a couple of enquiries about our $5.95 AirTags covers availability - they should be in stock Monday or Tuesday next week.
You can add an in-stock notification on the website if you want to be informed when they start shipping.
      Thanks for the enquiries.

  • Would be a sweet deal if delivery is free…
Otherwise Choetech is $16.2 Delivered from Amazon AU (single type-c port)
    https://www.amazon.com.au/CHOETECH-Charger-Delivery-Adapter-…

Unfortunately delivery costs us $9.40, would love to be able to do this but simply can't afford to give money away. Hope that's ok?

    • Just bear in mind, all our chargers are the newer Gallium Nitride (GaN) chargers, the Cheotech is the older (cheaper) silicon charger.

      • +1

Feel free to read up on a comparison between GaN and silicon chargers at - https://homekitaustralia.com.au/blogs/news/gan-gallium-nitri…

        • Most of us only care about GaN due to the smaller size, and these are pretty big anyway…

          • @NobalaKoba: Size: 43mm x 39mm x 27mm. Weight: 45g

The 2-port generic USB charger I use for travel: 153g (with all country adaptors though).

            • @Lukian: All of our chargers can accept AU, US, EU & UK heads which we carry in stock.
These 20w chargers are fixed head (there's the option for exchangeable heads) to keep the price down.

          • @NobalaKoba: For me the biggest advantage of GaN is the heat or lack of it.
Also they will charge faster as they can deliver a consistent output which you won't get with the older silicon chargers.
There's loads of information on our blog so feel free to poke around.
            Thanks for the feedback.

  • Any 65W Laptop GAN's available?

      • +2

The 65w charger we have being built will beat that price plus there will be no special coupons, no paid subscriptions and from a 100% Australian owned and operated supplier.
We can only post here once every few weeks so we might just put these 65w chargers out as a Monday special and you can check the HomeKit Australia website each Monday from mid May.

        The link is broken. FYI

        https://www.amazon.com.au/YESDEX-Charger-2-Port-USB-C-AU-Plu…

It looks pretty good for the price.

        • Add a few bucks more and you can get 3-port with a 36W USB-A instead of 18W

          • @ibelievesyd: Can you post the link to that please as I can't find it.

    • We are almost completely out but have several hundred being built at present.
This has been taking a lot longer than normal, because of the chip shortage so we hope to have these in stock by mid May.
We are building one exclusively for the OzBargain community so please stay tuned.
(Even our cables are subject to the chip shortage, as we use "smart" cables with e-marker chips at each connector.)

  • OP when I check for mfi certification here: https://mfi.apple.com/account/accessory-search nothing is found for HomeKit Australia. Do you know why?

    • I have a copy of the MFI contract with Apple but we are not allowed to publish it. If you get to read one of these you will understand why MFI cables are ALWAYS more expensive.
      Hope this helps.

      • +1

No, that doesn’t help. I want to know why you’re not registered with Apple when you claim mfi certification.

        • -1

The store doesn't register with Apple, it is the factory.
If you search SOCW you will find the registration.
The cables we say are MFI are MFI.
We could sell cheapie cables but we pay a higher price for the genuine MFI cables.
Is there anything more I can give you? Happy to do so but cannot distribute the Apple MFI contract.

          • -1

@HomeKit Australia: You will note that apart from a couple of entry-level cables that ARE NOT labelled MFI, the majority of our cables are "smart" cables and genuine MFI.
The "smart" as opposed to a "dumb" cable is the inclusion of e-marker chips at each connector that handshake with the device at each end to assist in ensuring only the correct power or data transfer is being provided.
Apple only provide MFI for Lightning cables so our high-end USB-C to USB-C do not say MFI but they are premium quality, all with e-marker chips included.
I trust you accept that we are attempting to provide quality cables and not pull some stunt on you????

          "Bellyup:
No, that doesn’t help. I want to know why you’re not registered with Apple when you claim mfi certification."

So, I'm not sure if we've provided enough detail for you??? Please let me know.

As far as I know, no Australian company has MFI certification as no cables are produced here. The only ones that might are companies based overseas who trade here, and as I said previously, every time you buy a cable from them, you are paying them back for their reseller registration, which is on top of the certification costs already paid out by the factory.

Are you satisfied with the responses or do you still believe we are doing something wrong or claiming something that we haven't?? Let me know and I will do everything I can to further assist.

          Thanks.

    • There is a MFi Manufacturer license and a Re-seller license. To be on Apple's list, a Re-seller must get their cables manufactured from a MFi approved Manufacturer and then apply to Apple to get MFi Re-seller license. Then you appear on that list! It is expensive to get a Re-seller license so most small businesses/start ups essentially buy from a MFi registered manufacturer. Cable performs the same (if it is a genuine retailer) but are not listed on Apple.

      • Yes, thanks for that.
The "Reseller" licence is for Company XYZ that is a particular brand name but subcontracts out their manufacturing which almost everyone does - Apple does the same.
The MFI certification is a factory-level certification and the requirement are onerous - I think the contract runs 80 pages. Because Company XYZ doesn't own the factory or the manufacturing operation but want to advertise their brand name as being MFI they must go through the Reseller certification process with Apple. So big companies may choose to bear the cost of doing this … so they can say their brand is MFI (and you will repay them for this with every cable you buy with their brand name).
SOCW has a number of MFI registrations and are our sole and exclusive supplier of cables.
The cables that are registered with Apple MFI, we list as being MFI certified cables which is 100% true.
We've never claimed that we are MFI registered … simply we sell two MFI cables.

  • Yes, look for SOCW.

  • i’d like to buy the 3 pack (fixed head) but the discount is same as for 1. can anything be done?

    Hi Homekit Australia

I placed an order for 1 but I'd rather get 3 like the above.
Is it possible to cancel my order and I'll repurchase? Order #1824

Thank You for a great deal :)

    • +1

Yes, just send an email to [email protected] and we can sort out for you.
      Thanks.

      • Is it order # 1823? If so, I can change at this end and send you a payment link for the extra.
        Thanks - Keith

Almost everyone is buying packs of 3 chargers so we've allocated another 100 pieces to this offer to keep it open.
Thanks everyone for the fantastic support - it is really appreciated - Keith

  • +2

    Just wanted to leave some feedback for the community;

Placed an order originally for 1 charger only, Then noticed 3 would be a better deal.
Keith not only responded promptly but there was no hassles or dramas in getting the order updated. Received the items within a day

This is a surprise as I'd expect most businesses wouldn't have the time or patience to help out. Not only that but the customer service and sincerity to discover that I was a past customer was a very pleasant surprise.

As much as I love the supercheap prices from Alibaba/Amazon/Ect… I'm more than happy to pay slightly more for this level of service and product.
The fact that they've gone out to source reputable suppliers and certification speaks volumes but also to deal with nay-sayers and people who want to nitpick their business and products with such patience and professionalism is rare in any company.

PS. for the people complaining about postage cost, I have a friend that runs a webstore and he has explained to me that postage is really one of the most expensive cost for a e-commerce store so to expect free shipping all the time is unreasonable.

Keep up the good work Homekit :)

  • Hey quick question if you don't mind. I have a Samsung s21 ultra which can have up to 25 watt USB PD. It seems though that most chargers only go up to 20 watt on USB PD, with the next step up being 65watt which is overkill. Any idea as to why this is?

  • Do you know when you’ll have more stock of the interchangeable head chargers?
