  • No flybuys?

    • I think you can get the equivalent benefit by turning on "auto transfer" - I haven't done this myself though so can't advise on how soon you can turn it back off again.

      • Where did you see this? As far as I can tell 1000 flybuys = 500 velocity, regardless of whether you manual or auto transfer

        • Sorry - yes - you are right. My mistake.

What I should have said is that the base benefit was boosted by 15% to the current 2:1 ratio (previously 2000 Flybuys points got you 870 Velocity points) a few months ago. So previously, 15% bonuses would boost the rate from 2000:870 to 2000:1000. Now that that increase has been locked in as permanent, we may not see a further 15% Flybuys bonus for some time.

  • No flybuys and no cba?

    • See my comment above for Flybuys.

  • Anyone got any thoughts on these guys going under rendering loss of points?

    • I used points for two domestic business seats in December last year, went fine except the lounges don’t have all the normal stuff. I agree it’s a good idea to use them up though.

      • Yeah I wonder how to best use citibank points given this is a risk

        • Get amazon gift cards

          • +1

@Anonymous101: Good value? Have you done the maths?

            • @jaypeee: I’d be interested in if there is better value transferring with the 15% bonus, then cash out with gift cards..

            • @jaypeee: Not really. I don't have any use for velocity points as I have saved quite much on QFF and haven't had a chance to use them yet. Hence, I decided to covert to amazon gift card (which doesn't have expiry date iirc) and save it for later.

    • May happen, may not.

If you are concerned stay on top of the news and keep an eye out for warning signs. Then get in early on any run on points, like happened last year.

Any one see the surname of the CEO of virgin Australia? Just saw it in a virgin email and what a crack up!

  • Oh, so anz worked out their issue with Velocity. Good news, Rewards cards back in play for the churners

    • ANZ, HSBC Restore Velocity Redemptions

Lucky timing as my 90 day window for using ANZ points was running out, having closed the Rewards card over two months ago.

After closing the Rewards card, your online ANZ Rewards access is also cancelled so you have to redeem over the phone. Which is easier if you saved your card number, expiry date and CVC/CVN (but they can still locate your account without it).

They advised five business days for the points and current bonus to come through.

15% bonus from ANZ also which brings the total to 30% bonus points till 31 May 2021.

      https://anzrewards.com/public/info.aspx?name=velocity

      • Yep, received +30% via ANZ.

  • Already have a lot of Velocity points and was thinking to transfer across my ANZ rewards as I'm about to close down my card.

On the fence about transferring Amex rewards, I don't see myself redeeming a lot of flights anytime soon as I still have travel credits to get through from 2020. Bugger, what to do!

    • Same here. I'm split on whether to keep my Amex MR points or convert to VFF. I haven't been flying much so it seems pointless to redeem atm.
