    Legend! Thanks OP :)

  • Is there still a copy of the app that works for quick trips to different states?

Interesting fact new car allows you to dance between fuel updates. Though I still top up to be safe. Google is your friend, do a search on the old way. I was surprised to find it.

        I understood the last sentence.

Interesting stat new phone allows you to salsa between battery updates. Though I still yoddle to be safe. Yahoo is not your enemy, do a look on the ancient methods. I was shocked upon discovery.

  • I feel like 95 petrol from a BP near me works better for my car (needs 95 or higher), but will cost me about 3c/L more if I go that option.

Anyone else care to comment on their experiences with 98 fuel from 7/11?

    • It is similar to Shell

      • +1

        And all other servos..

        Australian standards, you know..

    • +2

Take a step back and read what you wrote..

      1. You can feel 95 vs 98..
      2. Implying fuel from 7-11 is sub standard..
      3. You care about 3c/L on a single fill when you're running a car that needs 95 octane..

Too early in the morning, but I'm not fussed about 3-5c/l more. It could very well be the BP near me uses 98 in their 95 tanks, and their fuel is superior to 7/11.
My car is old, and still chugging along. Might not be noticeable on a newer car, and of course it could all be in my head.

All i was asking if people felt their cars ran better with bp or another major retailer.

I understand all servos get their fuel from the same refinery and the only difference is the detergents added

All of my cars “feels” (according to my arse dyno) to run better on BP 98 but when there’s a 20-30 cents difference between them, money wins every time.

Be interesting to see if you could tell in a double blind test where someone else filled your car, or if it's just a subconscious marking thing that "BP Ultimate" is better.

      • Thanks for not being condescending, not sure why other posters feel the need to.

Anyway, it does appear BP ultimate is rated the highest (by users) out of premium fuels.

This could simply mean my injectors need to be professionally cleaned (ultrasonic), but that service isn't cheap.

What I have also found is Supercheap auto's petrol injector cleaner seems to give my car more responsiveness, and I've tried many other brands that don't seem to have any effect (nulon, liqui moly, and Valvoline).

I'm with you though, anything over say 10c/l more then it's too much to pay

      https://www.mobil.com.au/en-au/our-fuels
7/11 supplier. The spiel on their 98 octane is very similar to that of BP's 98.

I've used 7/11 98 for years with no problem or noticeable difference in power and previously, had used BP almost exclusively (station close to work).

BP does a great job of marketing their high end fuels. If there are any minor differences, which there might be in terms of proprietary cleaning additives, I'm still happier paying less for my fuel at 7/11.

    • So why don’t you compare BP 95 to 7/11 95 instead ?

  • Free coffee is back. You get a cup of free coffee after fuel purchase.

I don't think this works after locking in the price. I filled up the other day with the petrol lock and still had to pay for the coffee.

    • -3

I wrote "after fuel purchase" not "after locking in". There is a difference.

    • I got my free coffee after I paid for my fuel. I don't think you know how to.

    • The free coffee isn't "back": it's a temporary promotion until 24 May. See in the app. (The notes are so small that you have to take a screenshot and zoom in).
The new ongoing "promotion" is a free coffee or slurpee after 7 times buying something.
The free coffee promo is running in parallel with "buy one share one" promo.

      • Yeah I've been getting that for a while now, every 7 fill ups I get a free coffee, but this was worded that whenever I fill up I get free coffee.

Was hoping it would be every time, even with a lock!

  • God damn it missed it

    • 3c more per litre current option, it's only $1.50 extra if you get 50L. I wouldn't worry that much.

How easy is it to use mock location and get the cheap price, I've struggled for the past year or so. Use love flying my helicopter to get cheap fuel

    • You have a helicopter… and you use it to get cheap fuel?
Why not use it to go over the bloody ocean or the Great Barrier Reef like normal people?

A true Bargain Hunter finds an app to mock their location to get the cheapest prices.

      • i have android & im tried to download Master31's Ifake location without success :(

        • After some great advice I got here, I bought a cheap iPhone 5s off gumtree and use that to lock in fuel.

    • +3

if you have an iPhone, there's iFakeLocation which has always worked for me, and doesn't require a jailbreak. https://github.com/master131/iFakeLocation
