    • What do you mean with "refund"? Instead get cash you got this refund? Any discount from the amount total?

      • Probably didn't get cash as the till literally ran out of $50 notes (or the like).

      • So they put the whole amount onto bank card directly, I didn't lose anything by doing so. Practically a refund type transaction. They didn't force me to take it as a gift card or spend it all at once

Some game more than 1 copy. Some games without cases, they charged a lot of refurbished fees, when I got home I noticed there was 2 games that has not been scanned so I considered it as a loss once I cannot prove I took it to the store. Only one game refused: APEX

    Total $2800

    • Thanks for the list, and, it’s like you are quitting games?

      • Yes, not quit quitting because I got new gen and a unlatched switch. And I found an second hand PS4 pro on gumtree with heaps of games for 500 hundred, got it and I sold it straight away for a profit.

        • +1

Your ebworld should be lvl 3 now.

          $500 for $2k credits ….welldone 300% profit

          • @luffyex2010: I returned there today because I found the 2 missing games:

            Skyrim Xbox $22
            COD Ghost $18
            Shadow of War $3.2
            Darksiders $6.7
            Fifa 21 $46

            Now I am level 3 - 8200 carrots, almost level 4.

I wish I could upvote this deal twice, normally we come to ozbargain to spend cash and not to bump our bank account lol

    • I am still confused how they paid $24 bucks for Deadpool - a game from 2015!!

      • Its a rare game (pretty sure they took off online store not sure which platform), you will be surprise some old games they have not update have high trade in value but take advantage of it while the trade prices are still good.

Dont forget you will get an additional 50% bonus similar to this promo on your bd and it expires after a month (use once within the month)

        • it goes for 70-80 at local game markets due to being out of print.

Godzilla use to be a $40 game and now does $200+

Crystar is going up like crazy, you'd be shocked.

        • Last year I missed the birthday deal for 2 reasons: only applies for level 3 and my profile was missing this info lol.

Took in my final lot of trades today and watched a guy who had just come from cleaning out target of Fifa 21s.

Bragged about buying every copy they had with his coles discount card and using coles vouchers he'd gotten at 10% off.

reckons he ended up buying each copy for near $30 a piece.

I figured they'd reject him and nope, kid walked out of there with something like $540 in cash.

Never seen anything like that in my life before.

    • I was ashame to trade 2 copies because I thought I was being a ****head for doing it. Unbelievable how they allowed him to trade in so many copies - I thought it was maximum 2 per platform.

      • I managed to do up to 3 with some of mine but the manager there knows me and knows i'm not doing it to stuff them over and has the mentality of we're gonna make a killing on reselling them anyway, but he has told me they've refused trades for scalpers trying to play the system by doing just this.

The guy who served both me and this dude just seemed to be pumping through whatever he was handed.

    • +1

That cash is just his own money with approx 50% profit (maybe 360 plus 180)

His haul is quite risky if ebgames rejects them or change the trade value but Dienk $500 gumtree find is the classic hit the jackpot trade.

      Its a treasure hunt. 😁

      • When I got my two copies at JB HiFi I was advised that I could return the without being opened.

First thing they do at eb is cut the seal, imagine the manager cutting the seal and refusing the trade later on lol.

Too risk, these behaviors just make EB Games stop doing promotion like that.

        • When I took in my huge bundle thursday I had an airheaded new girl who kept mixing up the yes, no and maybe piles.

Explained to her, that I needed to know the trade in value, and each game would then be put into a yes, no or maybe pile.

She didn't understand the concept had to explain it several times.

(i've had staff who have flatout refused to do this, many devious staffers will try to only give you a "final" value so you don't know what they're paying on each so you get screwed over, as mates who are managers have said many staffers love doing this to get their KPI up and have people not notice the games they're getting next to nothing on, there is no company policy to do this).

So as we're going through it she insists on checking every disc, I point out to her that there are hundreds of games here, not every game is gonna get traded so it's pointless checking them until after we've sorted out the piles, she ignores this and tells me that she has "all the time in the world".

She gets up to a sealed game and i'm expecting her to just skip past it and low and behold she pierces it with her nails and rips it off.

I stop her and point out that it's brand new factory sealed, she's just hurt the value of it and without a shred of remorse goes "well it's opened now".

I stop her and explain that I run a game group, and to a lot of gamers, sealed is the gold standard, her doing that kills the value of a game and that the only way they're getting any of my games is if they match or exceed what the game owes me, and under NO circumstance open a sealed game.

Nods as if she's understood, then picks up the next game opens it checks it, picks up another sealed game and rips it open.

Stop her again and im like I just told you that's not ok, she goes "oh you don't get it most people don't care about covers and brand new they just want the game".

So immediately pull all the sealed games out of the stack.

Bought this up with the manager today telling him that the girl who served me the other day did this and it's cost me, before he can even chime in, the other employee who's an absolute suck up to corporate "oh nah we're trained to do that as people re-seal games".

My mate who's the manager goes "dude… people can't re-seal with a factory seal" had to show him how to identify a factory seal.

Fortunately the dude who was serving me today didn't seem to care, he was just punching through titles.

Anyone who ever deals with gamers / collectors in general understand you don't ever f*** with a factory seal unless a transaction is finalized.

          • @typhoonadventure: Wow, what mess.

You pointed out something interested: I traded almost 3k this weekend. With 2 different staffs. Do they receive any "bonus" for it? I wish they do because I had 2 great services this weekend, unfortunately you were out of luck with they.

            • +2

@Dienk: they don't get bonus's unless you count keeping their job.

They have a set amount of targets they need to hit to make KPI, one of the big ones during this was trade amounts.

I noticed a ton of people who took entire lots in during this were expected to get low value trade in's like anything, obviously because stuff they pay less than $1 on they're going to make back atleast 10x profit on, so this is why a lot of people are saying they had staff refuse them individual pricing.

The other tactic I am seeing been abused is the "no regrets" policy, where they are claiming if anyone is unhappy about the price afterward they can buy it back any time.

What they don't tell you is that, they have to process the game first to allow them to sell it back to you, if the game gets flagged on their system as high value or needing to go to another store, or as my mate the manager has pointed out numerous times, if the game is deemed to go up in value at some point, they get dumped straight to head office where it goes on their ebay listings for the highest amount possible.

I've seen a few people get stuffed on this numerous times, he's pointed out that a lot of high value games that have SKU's on the system and get traded in but are never in stock go this way, he reckons he's had about 20 godzilla's through his store, and they go straight to ebay at corporate to fetch $200+, if they aren't swiped by staff first.

              • @typhoonadventure: I am glad i bought godzilla, deadpool and marvel ultimate alliance 1 and 2 on digital.
…but found out that my transformers devastation is missing in my library.

Shouldnt have depend of xbox gold subscription….they could remove it anytime.

                • @luffyex2010: Never go digital, never have this be a problem.

Physical will ALWAYS be better and a good insurance policy.

                  • @typhoonadventure: There are always risk on both mediums but digital platform risk is currently higher.

I love the convenience plus to use digital on multiple consoles is easy…..I might consider collecting previous gen physical disc again when I clear some space.

July 2 it will no longer be possible to buy games on the PS3 or PSP online marketplaces, and come August 27 the same will apply to the Vita too.

In total, around 2,200 digital-only games will disappear after the stores close, including:

                    Around 630 digital-only Vita games
                    Around 730 digital-only PS3 (PSN) games
A small number of digital-only PSP games
                    293 PlayStation Minis
                    336 PS2 Classics
Around 260 PS1 Classics (particularly on PSP and Vita)

If only Sony PS5 provide some sort of emulation/cloud to run the older digital games. This could be Playstation gamer s dream come true.

PS5 disc drive are availables at ebgames store currently
