Laptop around 1.2k - 13/14 Inch Well Built

Missed out on the awesome Lenovo IdeaPad Ryzen 4800 deal in Jan.

In the market for a well built laptop around 1k up to 1.5k. Current Dell Latitude short circuited overnight while not doing anything!

Thought about M1 MacBooks, but don't want to learn and adjust to a new OS.

Between the IdeaPad S540 and the Matebook 14, which would be better build wise? Both running gen 10 U CPU, and around 1.3k.

Looking for suggestions and recommendations. Thanks!

  • HP Spectre was the best laptop when I was looking back in 2019, but I wanted a Mac instead due to OSX

  • Dell XPS

If you want a great, fast and futureproof laptop go with the M1 MacBook Air. You won’t regret it. I transitioned from a pc to mac and it took little to no getting used to. And I have never used a MacBook in my life before

don't want to learn and adjust to a new OS

Literally takes 30 minutes of stuffing around to become familiar with Mac OS

    • this, I came from a Dell XPS 13 maxed out, then entry level model, then HP model (forgot).

M1 MacBook Air/pro (air moreso) is so f'ing better than its competition. Its ridiculous.

I charge it once a week and it lasts 5 days - 18% a day - writing scripts/text on Word, Outlook etc.

It's definitely changed my workflow, and is just an overall amazingly well built machine.

      M1 is a game changer

  • Dell Ruggeds.

Can't get more well built than that.

    • It even works in an oven. Perfect for using it when baking.
