Moved from Dodo to Belong nbn but Dodo Says Still Connected

Hi OzBargainer’s,
I helped a friend change from dodo to Belong NBN on 24/4 (disconnected from NBN Box). Dodo told her this evening that she’s still connected. Was she supposed to notify dodo to cancel her account, or do Belong do this, or is this completely different with FTTH? Last time I did this type of thing was ADSL. Appreciate any useful feedback. TIA.

Yes. You need to let them know.

You are allowed to have up to four active ISPs on nbn FTTP. She has to notify Dodo to cancel her service. If she doesn't notify Dodo the service stays active and Dodo will send her a bill as normal.

Thanks, this now makes sense. I had a feeling this would be the case. Can they see if you have physically been disconnected? I’ll get onto this with her tomorrow.

      • Physically disconnected from the nbn box port where the Dodo service was doesn't matter. The Dodo service can sit there unused for months and the bill still comes.

Friends don't let friends sign up to Belong NBN.

    • haha, belong was absolutely shit house for me, drop outs and super slow speeds at night when I first signed up in a new area. After about 2 months it magically fixed it self, has been about 4 years now and haven't had any issues. I live in a new estate so assuming they didn't but enough data capacity at first for the area, but like i said, works fine now.

      • Mine never did fix itself and Belongs support is non existant.

  • When you say you "disconnected from NBN Box" do you mean you moved to a different port of the NBN NTD? If you do then DODO is still active on the port that the you were plugged into. Never move ports unless you want to pay for two RSP's.
