Cheap but risk of duplicates :(

    • +15

Pro Tip: Avoid duplicates, by buying just one.

      • -5

I've ordered an hour apart. Maybe just maybe my orders will be packed at seperate times but I doubt that.

        • +3

Statisticly speaking the probability should be the same assuming they are randomly mixed at the factory.

That said, one person reported 3 identical figures from an order of 3.

          • @ash2000: Yes getting 3 identical is my reasoning for spacing it out. Entirely possible it's a box of dupes.

            • +1

@Clear: Each box has 3 full sets of 12 figures each (or 16 for others). Not really relevant when you order. Whoever is fulfilling the order will just grab packs at random.

              • -1

@Hybroid: Good. So I'll report back when I receive them and if I have no identicals then I'm right and all is well.

                • @Clear: The odds are the same regardless, could get lucky, might not. Good luck though.

                  • @Hybroid: I haven't bought them since they first came out. Do they still have the bump code trick or is that long gone?

          • +2

@ash2000: I got three identical ones in an order of four. I could instantly tell they were the same as they were bulkier than a typical packet.
So that was the first and last time I ordered blind bags online.

            • @sam buster: Maybe out of the factory they just dump 3 of each design into the retail display box (no randomising/mixing the contents).

That would significantly increase the probability of multiples, in fact more probable than not an order of 5 would contain a duplicate. A shame.

        • -4

Really 4 downvotes for that? If I get no duplicates then you're all wrong.

Because you know each box of 12 is not guaranteed to have a full set so there are duplicates. Making one order, then waiting and finally making another order means that they're might (emphasis on might) be picked from a different box.

Then again I assume people here are smart so that's my first mistake.

          • @Clear: You mean if you get no duplicates then you've just won the probability lottery?

In fact, if they're all from the first box, the chances of getting the 2nd as a dupe is 2/35 and 3 of a kind is 2/35 * 1/34.

If from a second box, it will be 3/36, and 3 boxes for 3 of a kind is 3/36 * 3/36.

So you're actually increasing your odds of getting dupes by wanting different boxes.

@D3m3ntia: Hey look one of the neggers has shown their face. If I get no duplicates my plan worked. If I do get duplicates my plan has not worked.

I look forward to seeing a contribution to this site from you one day. Member since 2015 and no posts.

              • @Clear: Calling people dumb on an internet forum trying to explain probability to you. Suit yourself :)

                • @D3m3ntia: Never called anyone dumb. Merely assumed people here were not smart and that would include me as I am here too.

Knowing how it usually goes with Amazon I can almost guarantee that my order will arrive in a single box having been picked at the same time. As it usually goes.

      • I can assure you these are unpicked .
One of the few place may I say so buy your massive max of $15 worth confidently lol :)

  • +15

$3 for just one minifigure. I thought $3 for all 12

    • Haha, if only =) OzCrazy

    • heheh i like this :)

    • +4

You must be new to Lego.

    • +3

You can't even get 12 clones from Ali for $3!

  • What's the normal price?

    • Roughly 5-7ish in shops. Official lego rrp is 5 usd.

  • +2

    Limit 5 per account btw.

  • Damnnn really want that bee keeper

OK nvm got 3. Curse you amazon prime. Forever fuelling my impulse buys.

    • Same, ordered five. Already have Pug Dog, Paddleboard Girl and Space Man via Coles impulse buys so anything else would be good, but mostly want BugGirl, Castaway Guy, BeeKeeper and Violin Boy.

    • I really wanted the hippy with the icecream cone but chances of getting him are not high enough

    • bee keeper

What about the paddle boarder ? You get get a paddleboard and a dolphin!

      • got pug dog, bee keeper and pilot girl!

        • OMG, that pug is Kawaii AF!

    • If you really want a particular one you can always buy from ebay etc where people have opened to ID so you get exactly what you want. You'll pay around $10 though or a lot more for an older series rare one. Cheaper than buying multiple and hoping you get the one you want.

  • +4

dang it, got 5, no idea why, bah, thanks OP! i hate you

    • +1

Same. Only bought 2. No need or use for them, but why not!

  • +5

I found the Ozbargainer one: https://bit.ly/3nWTyu8

  • For me who wants to buy picked through minifigures scatter in a mess all over the retail stores . Kmart gets a special mention . Is it only me that can see huge retail sales for sealed complete boxes at the official Lego site and its distributors. I really can't understand why they are missing out on these sales .

    • Huh?

      • Resembles an unassembled set of Lego.

      • +1

I think he's taking about how people pick the ones they want by feel, meaning the box is usually a mess, especially at Kmart.

That, and a desire as a fan to be able to just buy whole sealed boxes.

Mate (popsicle) I got news for you though: https://youtu.be/pB9rB6J2ujQ

Even that may not guarantee you a full set.

    • I'm not entirely sure what you trying to say, but collectors/fans/resellers often buy unopened full boxes as the newer series boxes generally have 3 complete sets.
Other people would pick from opened sets as only after selected ones not complete sets.

  • Seems they are sold out

  • OOS.

  • Brehhh

  • For the couple of mentions above about each box containing 3 full sets of 12, you guys probably need to watch this: https://youtu.be/pB9rB6J2ujQ

Anyhoo I bought 5 just for kicks. Hopefully I can find someone local to swap any dupes with.

  • +2

5 diff ones here including the bee keeper :D

    • Hah! So lucky. Now I'm dreading getting 5 dupes from your box haha…

  • +1

Got 5. 2 were the same. Police guy is sick

  • +1

    I got 4 from 5.

    Centaur x2
    Dog
    Violin boy
    Surfer

Really wanted the castaway but oh well. Still good.

    • At least the dupe was a big one.

    • surfer is pretty rad though

      • Yeah, stoked about the dolphin. Definitely best VFM in the series.

  • +1

    Got the violin boy meh.

  • Mine just arrived. Got Castaway, Centaur, BeeKeeper, Aeroplane and a dupe of one I already had, Paddleboard Girl. Five different figs though, so pretty good odds there.

Still looking out for Bug Girl and Violin Boy. Going to have to aim for the whole set now, I've come this far LOL.

  • Two shipments and received Ladybird, Pug in first and Centaur, Surfer in the second.

Suck on that neggers. As expected I was right and you was wrong.

    • +1

      Congratulations. You win the internet.

      • From the top of Big Ben?

  • Keep coming back in the hope these come back into stock at three dollarydoos. No luck yet. Seems like we exhausted their stocks for now.
