Winter Homewear (Jumper, Thermal Pants, Thermal Shirt)

Looking for some cheap Winter home wear or just thick jumpers.

Also looking for good value thermal wear and what your opinion on thermal wear is if it is worth it or not.

Personally I think wearing a second shirt or pants is better and cheaper as thermal wear seems to rip easily like most thin stretchy fabrics.

Friend is looking for some winter home clothing he is size small for top and bottoms.

Optional quest - friend is also looking for some cheap size 6 shoes just standard basic ones.

Would love any cheap finds or recommendations for all.

Thanks.

    uniqlo
cheap thermal wear and home wear and jumpers

    • This seems to be the best.

      • also best to think one season ahead
summer stuff now is dirt cheap

i get lots of winter stuff last spring at 50% off

merino wool jumpers at 19 bucks, these are the best cause they are machine washable

        • Genius idea you are right gotta get things out of season for some good prices.

aldi ski sale for thermals i reckon.

there's different types of thermals, the "lighter" ones tend to rip easy but the polyester stuff lasts longer however does make you sweat a bit more as it's not breathable so not ideal for all-day round the house wear.

i'd just stock up on some polar fleece tops, get a good pair of thermal leggings and tracksuit pants/jeans to wear round the house and most importantly, thick socks… even a beanie or balaclava if you are going full OzB winter without heaters

Kathmandu deals were posted here a week ago, 2 x thermal shirts for 30 and thermal pants for like 10 or 20
can vouch for the shirts, very light super warm

Anaconda alway seems to have cheap thermals

They are not best quality i.e you might want better for backcountry skiing but they are plenty warm for around the house (unless you live in antarctica)

Size 6 is small enough to look in the womens and kids section. Kids shoes are usually pretty cheap if looking at factory outlets or Kmart/Big W etc.

My wife has small feet and her last pair of runners came from the kids section and were something like $30 compared to $100 for the women’s version.

    • Any idea what size 6 mens shoes would translate to in womens and kids shoe sizes?

  • I got a $59 shetland jumper delivered from these guys - https://www.boutiqueretailer.com.au/
I will be warm this winter in Tassie :p

I would suggest a car for the colder months, but nothing beats being on a bike thou; if you are not frozen to it after a rain shower on a cold windy day/night (I remember it well)

    • We ended up getting stuff from Kmart. Was looking for the cheapest price and for now.

Couldn't wait for delivery otherwise i probably would have checked aliexpress or even wish.

Would you believe I am actually on the website now looking to buy another pair, but I might go a size up or 2. I find it keeps good in the sleeve, but I think it might be coming up from below; or could that be from my belly getting bigger? :p I love the jumper thou. Very warm, even thou not very thick. I have a thick woollen one from the op-shop, it is a toss-up which one is warmer. At $59, you can't go wrong. I might just go up one size & lose the belly me thinks

        • haha probably belly getting bigger :D
Thanks mate for the info, do you have any recommendation for socks (may be this ) and pants too ?

        • Mate, I found the same item from the same seller at Ebay with 15% off with code PJULY15 (free delivery). If you haven't bought yet, please look into that :D (for ebay plus it is 17% off with PJULY17 + express shipping)

          • @bazingaa: Your a legend
But I have been thinking (I know)
I am a tall person, and I was going to get a size or 2 up, but the length does not increase much. I found with mine, it is fine walking around, but after I sit then stand, I have to tug at the jumper to get it down, so I need a longer jumper, which the shetland won't be able to give me (pity). I am still going to keep the one I have and wear it inside, so it does not matter if it rides up as much.
I have another woollen jumper which is longer, that is what I was basing it on, but that jumper is a creme colour. I wish it was black or close to black. Can I dye a woollen jumper? It is pure wool, except for where I mended the holes with cotton thread. I got it from the op-shop for $3 because someone must of got it as a present then washed it with normal washing liquid/power & it got several dozen holes in it; which I patched up with cotton & thread (not bad for a bloke pensioner)
I am going to get a really good jumper, it should last me out and these ones are good and they are long. They do a 28 day no arguments return if you are not satisfied, just have to pay postage to Sydney. I don't have the money yet, but I narrowed it down to these 2. What do you think?

        I found this page
        https://www.woolovers.com.au/mens/jumpers?page=1&colour=129,
I might have to save up my pension for one of these beauties

    • Do you still rate the Shetland jumper to this day?

I'm thinking of getting some warm jumpers, the UNIQLO merino wool is pretty thin so this looks like a good option. Is it thick/chunky?

      Thanks

      • +1

Did u read the comments just above, they still hold true
I don't wear the Shetland much, only at home as it is not as long as it was
I wear the ones I got from Woolovers. Both jumpers are not thick, but are warm
Ask Woolovers which ones are thick, they have sales all the time
