    Gigabyte? No thanks.

Whats wrong with them? Honest question

      • +9

Their builds aren't as nice and durable as Asus/MSI.

I have an Aero 15. The fan isn't as great but otherwise, it's what you expect from a gaming laptop.

      • I used to buy only gigabyte but lately the quality has suffered.

no reason to back up the no thanks. pretty shitty ozbargainer

Their website captcha is no good. Keeps asking…

    • You're likely accessing from an IP range considered to be sus

      Few things to try:

      • Try a different connection, maybe tether
      • Ensure you're not connecting through a VPN
      • Could also be caused by CGnat afaik

I am static IP with Aussie broadband and getting their looping stupid captcha.

    Any good for mining?

      Should be fine for Minecraft.

    • This has already been answered for you on other threads.
A comment on Ozbargain is the wrong starting point if you do actually want to start mining.

In fact you can, some coins accept lower end gpus like this, but don't expect high returns
      Let the negs flow ;)

Suspicious build quality and QC. Bought a couple of their aero series before and feel it is not on par with other major brands really. And nowadays Gigabyte is not even firmly on the list of big three motherboard vendors…its prime has gone.

    4C? Nope.

  • Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the model on sale the Aorus 5 MB, not the 15G?

The 15G is a higher-end model and as far as I can tell doesn't have a 1650ti variant?

    • its 5mb low end model

    • Good spot, that's correct. Post updated for future reference.

  • Can't comment on the build quality but solid specs for the price.

I'm being a choosy beggar, but I wish it came with a 1660Ti.

Even at this price, and with the games I play, that 1650Ti won't be able to hold its own for long.

  • that was quick

out of stock and its $1,599

  • MSI GF65 was under $1K during the eBay sale.
It had i7 and 1660Ti as well. But 8GB RAM only.
Waiting for that to go on sale again.

  • Yeah I was very disappointed with how many failures I had with an Aorus X17… considering it cost $3,600 I really expected better. Won't be buying gigabyte again.

  • +2

Had an Aurous X5 v6. Died right outside of warranty, just overheated and gone. 2.5k dud. Never buying gigabyte/aorus again.

    • gigabyte quality had degraded recently, i used to vouch for them but after a gpu with coil whine and a motherboard with poor vrm I'm steering clear next time.

    • I've had two gaming laptops overheat. It's just what they do
