ASUS TUF GAMING B550-PLUS Wi-Fi ATX $199, B550M-PLUS Wi-Fi mATX $179 + Delivery ($0 Bris, Syd, Melb, Can) @ Mwave

130

Just found these bad boys on sale at mwave, seem to be pretty high on the tier lists for Ryzen 5000 series mobos (Note I believe 3000 chips work fine too). Free shipping for specific city centres at checkout, otherwise courier options seem to be around 15 dollars.

Note these are the wifi 6 models which are usually a bit more expensive than the alternative models with no integrated wifi.
Savings of 40 dollars on MWAVE, but most other places I could find have these cards for higher prices.
Drop in price from the last deal from MWAVE on the MATX too: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/604509

Looks like a great value board if you want a good WiFi solution. I has a decent audio chip and 2x M.2 slots.
I have a Gigabyte GC-WBAX200 WiFi card on my system, and looking at the picture the external antenna is identical. Interesting.

  • These are truly great boards. They get recommended quite often by the major tech channels.

The only 2 small issues to be aware:
    1. No on-board USB-C ports - which translate to no usb type-c port for your pc front panel
    2. The on-board memory topology is not the latest one - which translate to slightly weaker Dram overclock headrooms. I'm pretty sure the mem frequency can't go all the way up as the B550 Gigabyte boards do, not so sure about the tightening on timings though. The argument here though is that on Ryzens you really shouldn't go over 3733 for drams unless you can oc your fclk higher. So not a big deal for most people.

Still a great board and a great price too. But personally I'd wait for Gigabyte B550 Aorus Pro AX to come down again to $199, which it did once recently.
