This is considered one of the better cast iron skillets on the market. Epicurious and Wirecutter for example rate it as one of the best.

Was $54.12 few days ago. Not the best price ever though.

    I have one of these. Great pan. Much prefer it over Lodge due to the longer handle. Bought it for around this price when Amazon was having one of it's "no minimum spend for free shipping" events.

      Same, was around $30 iirc.

      Longer handle makes it much better but I only got this as the Lodge 12" rarely goes on sale & the 10" lodge is too small for generally cooking for 3 ppl.

      Great pan at a good price & will last forever!

      Interesting, I prefer the shorter handle as it fits better into a smaller oven and you don't get the leverage multiplier effect making it feel 10x heavier. Great that there's choice!

      So the main reason you prefer it over Lodge is the handle? What about the heat or cooking surface.

        Pretty well the same in other regards. Perhaps a touch lighter than Lodge so maybe a bit lower heat retention but faster responsiveness. Neither have terribly smooth cooking surfaces but I can cook fish and eggs in mine now that it is properly seasoned so I don't think that's a big issue.

      I believe there is a loophole where you add other items to the cart and get the free shipping, then remove the items, haven't tried it yet myself so I don't know the exact ordering.

      "Fresh Australian Kitchen" is made in China if you care about such things. One review mentioned issue with tooling marks.

      I have a few cast iron pots and pans, all with rough finish and have never had an issue. Bought a cheapie once with some sharpish raised spots but they sanded down very easily.

      Some people believe the rough finish bonds the seasoning better…the roughness smooths out with more use regardless.

      I wouldn't spend extra on a no name because it's smooth.

    Does this have a 'non stick' coating? It says it's non-stick, I'm a bit confused. Or is it just that they pre-seasoned it with vegetable oil? Like, is it a regular cast iron pan?

      That's a good price but you don't want a wooden handle if you plan to put it in the oven to finish off a dish.
