    Just tried it even though it has been removed from the description but the Amazon US link says "The Kindle title is not currently available for purchase" so perhaps it was free in error.

    Yes, it's been free for a long time. There are very few Holmes stories that aren't in the public domain.

    (Fun fact, the estate claims that some character elements of Holmes are still under copyright.. which is why they want to argue that any sort of brooding detective is protected in films and TV etc.)

    While PG is fantastic, often the books there have poor or no formatting and make them hard to read. I tried to print a few to read them and it was really hard to do.
