Then imma guess you've never used a roborock vac

        • +2

So has my Dyson and Wertheim stick vac, batteries don't last

        • -8

          Overpriced items for the lazy

          • +5

@tarkine: Lazy? Orrr something used to free up time for a busy person to be able to spend time with their family instead of cleaning.

You can't say it's lazy otherwise I hope you clean all your clothes and dishes like the good ol odd days with your hands!

        • +2

Mine is still working after three years. 70% battery capacity left.

          • @praga: My S5 is still getting through the entire house (35 square) on one charge after 2 years and 113 cleans. Plus it returns back to dock if it doesn't get through the entire clean and resumes automatically which it hasn't needed too. Happy with my purchase

          • -1

@praga: It isn't out yet this is a pre order.

          • @praga: Which model please?

        • +1

My original version still going after 3 years. No battery issue.

  • +3

I'd probably look into the deebot t8 at this level as well, also has a self empty dustbin add-on however it has cameras to detect cables and other obstacles which are lower than the Lidar scanner. (Not sure if it has as much google assistant integration)

My roborock S5 is a tank and works hard, however with two German Shepherds and especially going into winter now it has no hope of keeping on-top of the hair and mud. The new S7 or deebot T8 with a empty bin are on my radar

    • +1

Are you sure your not me 😂 my shepherd is breaking my heart with the hair right now. S5 can't keep up!

Xiaomi forgets themselves. They've priced this too high

    • Exactly my thoughts. They are going the same way as Samsung back in the days

    • +1

      Xiaomi isn’t roborock

    • +1

This isn’t a Xiaomi vacuum cleaner. It’s Rono rock independently.

      • Correct independent, although Roborock connects through the Xiaomi Home app

        • You mean "independent" ;)

      • Xiaomi is an investor and partner of Roborock

      • I'm so confused with the branding. I know Xiaomi and Roborock parted ways and they're separate brands. But the listing says this uses the Xiaomi app - and I thought only Xiaomi devices go on the Xiaomi app.

Zomg i need this so bad ima cough up $1k for a pre order.

Said no-one about this product ever.

    • +2

I mean I did need a vacuum. This has amazing reviews so I did cough up 1k. I guess that makes you wrong?

  • +1

    Is this a thermomix attachment?

  • +4

Ummm…why pre-order this when you can just get it on a sale which inevitable comes around monthly. Silly.

  • +1

    Is this better than 2 x S5's?

  • I'm looking to upgrade from my s50 which has had some problems. The laser distance sensor kept crapping itself so I had to replace it (common issue) but that was a cheap fix. Now I just have constant problems with it losing the dock position. Like it literally starts to think the dock is in a completely different room, and then gets confused as to which room it should clean when I select it. I'll select our lounge room and it'll end up somewhere completely different but the map will still show that it's in the lounge. I've tried deleting the map and restoring a backup, deleting and letting it generate a new map, and even factory resetting it. It'll work fine again for a time but the same problem always inevitably occurs.

Although I know the s50 had room cleaning added into the app later after it was released and I think it is technically in beta. The vacuum itself still cleans the whole house perfectly fine, but we spend most of our time in two rooms so usually use room cleaning.

Do most people have good experiences with room cleaning on the models newer than the s50?

    • Mine only does this if I rearrange or buy furniture which drastically changes that rooms map. Have you cleaned it's sensor?

      • +1

Hmm that's interesting to note. We do change the location of stuff in the room sometimes. We have kids so their larger toys might be in different locations. Also sometimes we move the dining room chairs to let it get under the table more easily. Basically every time it cleans the room would be a little different.

I wouldn't think the sensors being dirty would cause an issue like this but I guess it's worth a try. I always wondered if it had anything to do with being on mesh wifi as well. In any case we'll probably upgrade eventually. Might wait till this one goes on sale but when new Roborock stuff is released it tends to take a while from what I've seen

        • My roborock got very confused recently when I replaced the coffee table, sofas, dinning table and added new rugs. That was the first time that happened (getting lost). But I regularly move kitchen island chairs and things off the floor so that shouldn't be an issue.

I am just going to delete the map and remap everything in my house and see if that fixes it. Prior to this never had an issue.

  • Had an S6 for over 9 months now, one of the best purchases I've ever made.

I have around 200sqm of floor to vacuum, generally worked out to about an hour a week and an hour of mopping every fortnight, since buying the S6 I've only had to spot vacuum a couple of times and a full vacuum and mop once every 3 months.

Vacuums my house every 2 days and mops every weekend so floors always feel clean. It has only had 3 flaws for me, first is if someone leaves a piece of clothing on the floor it gets stuck, second is my barstools legs are the exact width of the unit so it can get in them but can't get out (had to create a no-go zone on the app), and third is the latest firmware has slightly changed the english voice which I can't stand but in fairness not really home when it's on.

    • Use the xiaomi home app to change the voice, there’s a few

If preordering this xiaomi viomi S9 seems a better buy @808.95 delivered.. plenty of reviews on youtube

    https://www.mi-store.com.au/viomi-s9-robot-vacuum-automatic-…

    • Hmmm. Why is this the first I'm hearing of this model/brand

I have a Xiaomi roborock gen2, looking to upgrade to mopping with empty station.

Shame the bins and the mops are disposables. Would rather reusables to minimise waste (the irony).

I also like that the s7 lifts the mop for carpet…

      • Mops and bin liners can be diyed mate ..mops are just a gimmick anyway..no downward pressure ..but if you are using them ..any microfibrecloth and velcro should do the job as long as you cut them exactly to length…bin liners well.. only the head is needed … attach that to any bag and it will work.. logically.. on both fronts guessing..but no way am I going to be paying for bags and ruining the environment in the process.. almost everything can be hacked ..Like I said below I have one of the "moppable" roborocks..used the mopping once..more like a light ..very light wet cloth rub ..not really mopping ..but I have tiles..should be ideal for wooden floors

        • The s7 mop vibrates, which is the first time I thought a mop would be more viable than a simple dragged wet rag.

          • @Canberran: I didnt know that..the s5 doesnt..maybe this viomi one does..will find out soon

            • @shaidas: I don't think so. S9 seems to be a regular dragger. But the price point is so good!

              • @Canberran: Really ? Vibration does not cause downward pressure so not sure how that counts.. if you add weight then the motors need to be bigger and noisier, You think 1000 plus dollars for a robot vaccum is a good price point without a self emptying bin function ? Well I disagree but best of luck and do report back as will I on the viomi as compared to the s5 roborock when I have it.. S 9 ? I dont think the manufacturers are there yet.

I've got the S6MaxV and it's used daily. I've clocked up a bit over 4 sq km of cleaning in my 2 b/r apartment with a total of around 150 hours cleaning time. While I wouldn't be pulling the trigger on this one any time soon, I can definitely vouch for Roborocks. The filter is meant to be replaced after 150 hours use but you can actually get at least twice that with regular cleaning. Tap it against an outside wall outside for a few minutes and your filter is like new again. If you regularly clean the sensors and anything clogged in the main and side brushes (like hair), you'll increase longevity also.

For someone with consistently busy days, mine has been worth every cent. Keep your eyes open for future deals though. Mine included a prepaid Visa (I think it was for $100) plus the 15% discount which was shortly after their release, so they may do something like that again. I personally believe that the 15% discount is stacked into their RRP, so while it looks like you're getting a discount, I really don't think it is one.

  • I have a roborock second gen.. I think it was S5..and it has been flawless for almost 3 years. Parts are easy to replace and the machines are really pretty simple hardware wise. The software rocks whether it is the firmware or the app and it is xiaomi whether it is roborock selling as it's own brand which they have started recently or now viomi selling under the Xiaomi umbrella. Hardware specwise the viomi product is pretty much neck to neck to the roborock s7 except I cannot locate a suction power for the s7 on their site. Now moving into a two storeyed house so the roborock for one floor and needed a new one for the second floor. For a self emptying unit at 809 dollars with a bin included in the price .. as opposed to a bare vaccum at 300 bucks more then additional spend on the bin there is no comparison on paper…so I have taken the plunge and pre ordered the viomi based on reviews online and the fact that Xiaomi products have never let me down which is why I bought the roborock

  • is this the one with the sonic mop?

Edit: Yes it is. Might wait for Vacuum wars to review this and see how much of a difference this will make compared to s5 max moping.

    • Well you're in luck, he posted a review 2 days ago already.

  • Mr Gerry Harvey is offering it for the same price: https://www.harveynorman.com.au/roborock-s7-robotic-vacuum-c… but without the $20 shipping.

So these guys need to do more than just a little better then HN

    • $20?…There is no shipping from the deal.
And u get +6m extra warranty unlike HN…

      • +1

I meant without the free shipping - HN charges $20 for it.

The 6 month extra warranty vs buying from HN… I don't know. I feel like ACL protections would be easier to enforce against HN than an online seller.

If an appliance costing this much breaks down in the first 18 months, it should be covered by ACL anyway.

        • ACL protection is always harder to argue.
Also Roborock warranty is at an Australia based location: "We have an authorised Roborock Service Centre based in Sydney to cover after service and local warranty."

I would assume Harvey Norman would onship it to the same place for any claims in that year as I doubt they got the expertise

          • @gabtug: My S5 max died after 15 months and Mr Kogans just raised their hands on me… Thinking should I fix it or just go for S7?

  • +1

So tempting to buy one but can't justify the price…

  • +2

Just bought this after seeing the reviews, got the pre order deal, needed a new vac so perfect timing.
