Faulty eBay Item, Seller Won't Issue a Return Label. What Are My Options?

I bought an item on eBay that is faulty.

Seller has offered 1/3 of the value as a refund and I keep the item (it's unusable so basically trash). Or I can send it back at my cost and they will refund and reimburse for postage when it arrives. They are refusing to issue a return label (I believe it is because the item actually came from China even though it stated Australia).

I feel like I'm going to be ripped off. Anyone know what my options are? Can I escalate with eBay or am I basically stuck with their offers?

I've already contacted bikies.

What value are we talking about here?

Oppa A52 or Something worth getting Bikies involved.

The value is not too high of the item though, anything warrants getting bikies involved.

Do you know if you have to deliver it to Aus or to China? Also did you pay by paypal? You might be able to get it refunded through them? https://www.paypal.com/au/webapps/mpp/returns

    • It's an Australian address but I'm certain the item actually came from China (even though they stated it was located in Australia). I've returned something before to a different seller which said the item came from Australia but I was pretty sure it came from China and a week later the item arrived back to me from the post office as a "return to sender" due to the dummy address I was given.

Go through ebay disputes process - they won't get a say. You'll get a return label and a refund. If the seller chooses to not pay for a return label then you get a refund and can keep it.

Yeah this probably the best way to go, Ebay will normally side with the Buyer in these scenarios

    • I always thought this too, but I got an auto email from eBay themselves saying that the seller is unable to provide a return label this is what got me concerned.

      • Just lodge a faulty item dispute with eBay. Once ebay has ruled in your favour, it's up to the sender to arrange for the return (with return label being one option), but they probably won't bother since the return postage would be higher than what the broken item is worth, and ebay should refund you.

I recently bought large rugs and they were found significantly different to what was advertised.

The seller wanted me to pay return postage which was nearly $200.

Went through eBay process and the label was magically provided by the seller. eBay clearly stated if they don't provide the return label after 10 days, I will keep the item and the full refund will also be issued.

  • Use PayPal dispute.

Don't waste your time going through PayPal, simply open an SNAD dispute with eBay and let them do all of the work. Won't cost you a cent if what you say is correct

I've got 2 more business days to go before eBay can step in so I'll escalate with them and see how it goes. Thanks all.

    • Forget eBay, lodge a Paypal dispute.

      • No, do ebay first, you can always do a PayPal dispute afterwards

Contact eBay and they will issue return envelope directly linked to their account. DON'T PAY YOUR OWN MONEY TO SEND IT BACK! I did this and eBay wouldn't help at all.

Otherwise just claim via PayPal and keep the item and money.
