Correct me if I'm wrong, but with these 7/11 deals there isn't a price match kinda thing between different 7/11s is there? What I understand is that these prices only apply to that specific 7/11

    • +1

gotta use the price lock on the app. "travel" to yeronga to lock it to that price, then you can redeem anywhere

      • Right, just my luck finding this deal after filling up my car with U98 at 169. Thank you though, will definitely keep an eye out for these deals

Welcome to Ozbargain, your life will never be the same once you get what's going on :)

    Time to treat your cars

I just treated mine from this
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/620729

Don’t want to spoil it now

    • same, app told me I saved over 60 dollars on my fill

      • +1

        $60? Must be a record!

How big is your fuel tank? :O

Or did you bring a boot full of jerry cans?

        • Max of 150L so maybe a 4x4 with extended tank with a 40c saving?

        • Nah filled up a 95L tank (although somehow I pumped in almost 97L) at 189.9

          • @Spec:

(although somehow I pumped in almost 97L

I've done 66L on a 65L tank too.. not sure who to trust, manufacturer specifications or the pump =\
Not sure if there's really 1L of clearance in my car to accept another 1L

      • The attendant made a big fuzz about my $5 savings on my recent refill. Wonder how that went for you.

        • An attendant once made a big deal of a 20 dollar saving from a 60 dollar fill (only paid 40ish) said it was the biggest discount he’d seen

Wife’s car so smaller tank than mine and was a quarter full as the lock was expiring

    Not available now

  • Thanks, fill up tomorrow for a cheeky discount!

Is there an easy way to spoof location? My old way with BlueStacks doesn’t work any longer :(

    • Same looking for a method to lock prices

    • same problem, tried lots of fake location, all doesn't work anymore

      • +7

Download 3uTools software on your pc. I use iPhone so all I have to do is connect my iPhone to pc, open 3uTools software and fake my location using “virtual location”. Use “Eleven Me” app to check for best fuel prices in 7/11 across Australia. Copy the geo codes for your desired location and put them in “virtual location” tab on 3uTools. Looks like a bit of a process but honestly once you download the softwares and all, it takes less than a minute to fake your location.

        • This is where I ran in to problems before. Don’t have a PC!

          • @digitalane: You should buy yourself a PC. They're super useful for all sort of things - documents, spreadsheets, browsing the web, playing the odd computer game, online shopping, streaming movies, and getting cheap petrol.

        • +1

thank you boss, works like a charm

    • +3

3utools on windows and an iOS device works well.

    • anyone know how to with an android device?

      • +3

Need to root and then hide root with magisk to enable location spoofing. I found it super fiddly especially on a phone requiring work security certificates. The above iOS and windows option works well. Buy the cheapest second hand iOS device and you’ll get your money back after a few months.

        • thank you for the info 👍

        • Yeah, I bought an android device for this and it's just complicated for me. I can't even root it. I gave up, saving up for an iphone and will try the 3utools route instead.

          • +1

@BuyNowThinkLater: I have it working on Android 11 without root. Simply enable mock location in Developer settings and then download a mock location app. I'm using Fake Traveler.

            • @[Deactivated]: I sent you a message

            • @[Deactivated]: I could not get it to work with the mock location/developer settings and fake traveler. In maps it showed I was in another location but when locking in fuel it only showed the local 7 Elevens around me.

              • @Lentils: The same happened to me. It suddenly started working though, I think a restart fixed it.

For anyone asking, Fake Traveler is available on F-Droid. You'll need to google F-droid to install.

              • @Lentils: I could not get it to work either after downloading fake traveler. Any ideas? I tried restarting as well

        • Didn't need to hide magisk for me to work

        • Interestingly, judging by other people's feedback, it's not even necessary to use an iPhone. So long as it can run the My 7-eleven app, then it'll work. So iPads will work, and possibly even an iPod.

      • Gps emulator

        • need root otherwise wont work““

          • @Grinderman: Ah your right. Sorry. I need to look into the root option. As not done this before

  • Has anyone else recently had trouble with signing into multiple 7-Eleven accounts? I keep getting this message; I'm only able to log into my last logged-in account.

Sometimes happens to me if I use the save autofill details. Try to manually enter them and it seems to work. Don't know why.

      • Ahh – I will try that! I always use autofill. Cheers!

      • Update: it still didn't work :(

Looks like they've cracked down on people using multiple accounts? Annoying when you have multiple cars in the family!!

  • +2

Rather than an iPhone, I use my family's iPad with 3uTools

  • don't forget to get the app and get a free coffee

    • +1

My local said I can't use the fuel lock and get the coffee? What's other people's experiences?

      • +2

Have used my fuel lock and got a free coffee 2 days ago

      • +1

The staff added the coffee and discount even though didn’t ask me if I need . They have kpi for this. .

      • Mine said that too – Keysborough store. So annoying.

    Not that cheap

    • +5

      find a cheaper 98

        Caltex Wyong NSW

        Metro Appin

Chopper doesn't fly there, nice if you are local

Prices might go higher with the shortage in the US, haven't really seen oil prices spike too much so who knows

The 125.x price last week was magic for those that locked it in.

The deal posted here is cheaper than my local Costco (which itself is always massively cheaper than anywhere else generally) so that's good enough for me

          • -3

            @TEER3X: Admit defeat buddy

Yes I locked in 125 last week also filled up some fuel cans

            • +2

              @Poor Ass: what defeat?

there's a reason most people avoid metro or united.

  • spoof location on your phone, lock in price, go and get cheap fuel :)

  • Anyone available for lock ins?

  • 136.7 at Costco today

    • Which one? VIC has it at 139.7

      • Perth

  • Is there actual any big benefit in using U98 vs. U91 on rare occasions like this?

    • +4

Nope, unless your car engine is designed to use it:

      https://www.racv.com.au/royalauto/moving/news-information/pr…

    • Just follow your car’s manual instructions (or a sticker near fuel tank cap).

My manual says to use 91 so I don’t question anything and just always use 91.

    • If stated on fuel cap, Older cars require premium PULP, minimum 95 Ron, which is what I put in.
When fuel is expensive I noticed 98 is only slightly more and arguably worth it if the car runs better (don't do many km anyway)

    • Maybe on real sports cars, but they would see a greater benefit using racing fuel. Other than recommended spec of course.

  • Comes up as 153.4, tried a few times yesterday

    • It's still there as at 7:27AM AEST, 17/05/2021

      • Not sure why never comes up on my app
Mate was able to lock Saturday
Worth going for a drive there?
Edit: Doubt it's actually that price at the servo now, petrol spy also shows it at the expensive price

        • Just checked petrol spy and it shows the same cheap price, post code 4104.

If people are locking it in, then it's definitely the right price since it comes straight from 7/11

Are you in the required vicinity or have the right set up to obtain the price?

          • @TEER3X: Yeah had a look on petrol spy doesn't say the cheap price.
I'm 6km away so it usually comes up in my area
May as well go for a drive and see

          • @TEER3X: Drove our There and got some and re locked! Wasn't working on my phone but petrol spy on the PC confirmed it. 136.4 is a greater price for 98 at the moment, I think E10 was more:)

    • Interestingly, I had a similar thing happen.

As an experiment, I removed Google Maps from my iPhone and tried again, and then the 136.4c came up fine.

Whether this is because it was somehow getting my location from Google Maps, or whether it's pure coincidence, I have no idea.

      • Yeah i even turned the wifi off on the phone as I thought it may be using the ISP's location or something, still no good. Checked on the pc petrol spy website and it was the cheap price so drove out (live not far). The phone was able to lock in when there.

could be some location permission settings, fk knows

  • Saw this on Petrolspy yesterday. Thought it was an error and didn't bother going.

    Thanks OP.
