Searching for Better Electricity Price - Anyone on Reamped Advanced Plan?

I am currently with AGL for Electricity and Gas and paying 21% off the reference price on electricity (in QLD).

I was searching if there is any cheaper plan for them, and found ReAmped Advanced plan thats offering 31% off the reference price.

Only the downside of the plan seems to be "Pay fortnightly in advance, with quarterly invoicing", which i am ok with given the discount.

In any case, i have only been with AGL and Origin, so i am not really confortable with ReAmped… as i have not heard much about them…

Has anyone been with ReAmped energy as electricity provider? What was your experience with them?

And, have anyone been on the "ReAmped Advanced plan"? Additional 10% discount on energy seems too good to be true… Is there any hidden fees or issues with this plan?

Thanks!

  • We’re with Reamped. Their rates are good so far. However, noted a few weeks ago that they had an even better rate which was there but unadvertised. I couldn’t see it as it won’t show rates for my property once you’ve signed up.

Yeah this annoys me with them. I just enter my neighbours address :P

  • Best to use the government calculator to work it out for yourself.

Reason being, different plans may have different tariffs based on peak and off peak, different service charges. So the % off reference price is a good start but you won't know the full picture until you look at the actual rates.

The government site makes it easy especially if you have existing bills - you can upload a few bills to cover all 4 seasons and it will give you the best plans to compare.

    • Thanks for the tip. Thats what i have done! ReAmped hit the top of the list, so i checked the prices on the website. The advertised rates is about 10% cheaper that my current one, so i contacted them and waiting for their bill comparion. I might swith to them when i hear back from them. But i just wanted to get some insights on this before jumping into it to see if there are any hidden issues with them.

      • Ah apologies my bad for assuming :)

    • The Gov calculator is pretty rubbish if you have solar.

      • Oh I wasn’t aware! Good to know!

Whilst I love the site, the lack of rates being displayed on the results page frustrates me.

Yes, its designed so simple Simon can get a better deal by just looking at the total cost, but just show me the god damn rates so I can do my own calculating, without me having to go into every god damn offer…

  • I'm with Reamped energy and they have been fine, no issues with customer service, and I received the credit from being referred by someone else within 1-2 weeks! I did heaps of research in prices for my local distributor and they were the most competitive. No hidden issues so far besides a 1% credit card payment surcharge which is common with the other main providers.

Not sure what the advanced plan is, but the handshake plan has a 12 month 'contract' but with no penalties if broken so not really a contract at all ;)

I haven't had to deal with customer service post sign-up, so good to know.

Yeah that confused me at first. Was even chatting with support prior to signing up and asked what penalty there would be if I 'broke' the contract, expecting something like being unable to sign back up to the handshake plan (since I 'broke' the handshake), and was told nope, no penalty whatsoever.

  • With ReAmped in Melb because as I’m WFH it’s better for me to have a low flat rate then a lower off peak rate, if I were working in the office every day then Tango would have been the best deal. Had no issues with them yet but only been with them for a month or two, sign up was painless.

  • Im on the advanced plan and love it

    0.268c/kw 91c/day supply charge

Monthly bill is $65 for 5.4kw/day usage

    • Damn SA power prices are high. In Victoria it's relatively easy to get under 20c/kwh

      • Yeah it is lol

Most of the big ones are still rorting people for over 0.35c/kw

  • Thanks for the comments guys! While searching for the cheaper energy prices, i realised that i can change my plan to time of use ones if i request for a smart meter… I always thought i can only have fixed tariffs as i can only see fixed ones on energy websites. More study to do :S

  • Mojo Energy works out better for me with solar in Qld.

  • Also on ReAmped in regional Vic. Good prices for where I live. Got a referral link off a friend that helped. They seem really easy to deal with, the online chat is quick and easy. I like the daily update on how much $$ you have used. Also liked that I can get my bill each fortnight if I want. Being on a fixed income, this has been handy.

Was on Amber before but not a fan of the wild price fluctuations.
