How to Find past Child Care Subsidy Cap?

Centrelink sent me a letter today that I owe them close to 4 grand. Reason being, they just balanced my child care subsidy from the financial year 2018 to 2019! Why they did this after 3 years is beyond me (I have filed my taxes PAYG on time every time as well as confirming family income). Now, I have the financial statement from the child care - but I can't find information on what the child care subsidy was in 2018/19. Does anyone know where I can find this information?

Update Edit: So even before I started calculating - I called centrelink and lo and behold somehow, they cannot tell me how or who or when or why, one of my "employed dates" were altered. They wrongly had me not working for a few months. All sorted.

They've gotta pay for the Robodebt debacle somehow.

Annually you should have adjusted your reporting to Centrelink on your estimate income for the purpose of CCR. That way your subsidy is paid more accurately. However, as your income is an estimate, they will take back any extra $ paid to you retrospectively for the past FY. They'll know once you've submitted your tax return.

If you need more details, call centrelink.

Yeah. The only reason why OP would be owing $4k for that financial year is if their income was much more than the estimate they gave Centrelink.

5% of what you should be paid is withheld (to account for some variance between your estimated and actual income). So you were actually over-subsidised that 5% withholding plus an additional $4k.

I think it was capped at $10k per kid back then. So for most people (3+) days a week it would run out a few months before the end of year.

I went through similar issues 'estimating' my income to centerlink when I was doing lots of short term contracting.. it was impossible to be accurate, and like you ended up with "Pay up in 7 days or we'll send the bikies round" letters
