Importing Triple Glazed Windows and SIP Panels

Just wondering if anyone has ever dealt with importing windows, whether double glazed or triple glazed from a supplier in China or elsewhere?

How was the process, how did you find the supplier, were the windows of the quality that you expected, would you recommend to others etc?

Also, has anyone built or lived in a house constructed of SIP Panels? Was it noticeably warmer in winter/cooler in summer? Would you recommend? Was it locally built SIPs or imported and where did you import from?

Thanks!

  • Are SIP panels similar to the composite building panels that are a high fire risk?

    • SIPs are just structurally insulated panels, usually polystyrene sandwiched between two layers of OSB. I don't believe they would be of any higher fire risk than other common forms of insulation

Did you see that Coburg house on foxtel today? lol

heaps of Insurance claims coming through for shit products from CHINA. The amount of burst pipes is starting to tell.

I have heard talk that insurers are going to be upping the premiums if houses are built using CHINA products. Especially anything to do with water and electrical.

    • I'm only looking at importing Triple Glazed windows, argon filled and thermally broken frames, no water or electrical items

  • I am now looking into trying to get double glazed Windows imported from China too (due to terribly expensive prices in Australia). Has anyone done this and knows how much you could save, and the best way you get decent quality? Hopefully there won't be any further comments on fires, pipes, electrical, etc.
