  • What beans do people recommend?

  • Roasted Date labelled in the packet.

What do you mean by that? Are the beans roasted to order?

    • From my experience specialty coffee often are roasted to order

That is also my experience, which is why I was clarifying with the rep. Their ignoring my question and misleading description tells me these are likely roasted off site and rebranded, or maybe drop shipped from a wholesale roaster. The business street address appears to even be a fire station. Everything about this post seems fishy, and the rep isn't here to show otherwise.

  • Agro’s Crema is highly recommended. I’ve tried most of the medium roasts

  • That’s even better than the Sumatra deal. If I just would have known this before… or are the Sumatra beans more expensive normally than these choices?

  • I've seen plenty of specialty coffee shops here in ozb. To be honest their half price even higher than premium coffee beans sold in supermarkets. I just don't understand how this industry works. Does anyone know why those specialty coffee shops don't use cashrewards?

Specially selected coffee roasted in small batches (sometimes in the single digit kilo's) on demand by small businesses is more expensive than coffee grown on more industrialized farms and large scale roasting facilities. Which are then stacked on shelves to sit for another couple of months, despite spending who knows how long in storage?

You may not appreciate the types of beans they source, the blends they create or the differences in how they roast, but for the reasons above, they should certainly be worth a noticeably higher amount.

Also, why would they have cashrewards?

I am not a coffee expert and they are all similar for me. Recently I bought a coffee grinder and I freshly ground coffee beans that I buy (when 50% off) over amazon or supermarkets.

I bought Lavazza Espresso Medium Beans from amazon when it is on special and ss. I paid only $13.5 for 1 kilo roasted beans.

On this post here, Agro sells it for $25 per kilo. Almost double of the price I paid. If they have cashrewards like %10 and combine with the bonus $5 cashrewards offer today I might give them a chance because at the end it will come to $20.

Once again, I am not a coffee expert and maybe it is worth for some people to pay premium! Not for me! I am happy with $13.5 Lavazza Espresso Medium Beans.

$13.5 is excellent value. If it tastes great to you then why change. My old man reckons Nescafé blend 43 is as good as it gets. To each to their own. I usually get my beans from Airjo on special for $30/kg. With express postage included, I think that’s a pretty fair deal. This post seems like good value too but I would rather not risk it atm with an unknown flavour.

Try buying good quality beans once from a local roaster, it tastes much better. I find most supermarket coffee is dark roast/too bitter or doesn't get as much crema (indicating its stale).

Aldi keeps winning on canstar, cheap, aromatic.
