  • Is the latest model the GX or the C1?

    • +12

The last number of the model number represents the year they were released.

      C9 = 2019
      CX (also known as C10) = 2020
      C1 = 2021

The G is the flagship model for each year, so the G1 is currently the latest flagship model with the C1 next in line.

What the differences between C and G

        • +6

G is generally made to be wall mounted,
          - Comes with a wall mount (I'm not sure if comes with a stand).
          - IO ports are facing down or to the side, rather than into the wall.
          - Is slimmer with a uniform thickness.

          For the 2021 model
          - Has a newer OLED panel which is more efficient and can go ~10% higher in peak brightness.

@gamerkonks: I just bought the C1 65 for a Good Guys commercial price. I will be wall mounting it eventually. (Haven't picked it up yet)

In your opinion is the G1 worth another $450?

Side by side comparison only showed a difference in sound, and a perfect black screen detail.

C1 comes with a stand but no wall mount and the G1 is opposite.

What do you think? It will be my first OLED screen.

            • +1

@iNeed2Pee: The difference is quite minimal, and you probably won't notice much of a difference.
The C1 is still a great TV.

            • @iNeed2Pee: G1 is marginally brighter, using a new OLED Screen technology and the G series are designed for wall mounting

              • @ESEMCE: But is it worth $450 more to someone who has never had an OLED?

                • +2

@iNeed2Pee: Up to the person on what they value.
I'm guessing a ~$4000 spend, so only 12% more expenditure to get a similar % performance increase (looking at brightness).. Seems like it's certainly justifiable to the right person.

                  • @ESEMCE: Ok thanks for that.

Yeah I got it for $3600 from GG Commercial vs $4117 for the G1.

Tough decision because brightness might help in our room but hard to spend another $500 😂

        • G series has better speakers and comes with a wall mount included but no feet (CX comes with feet but no wall mount).

The CX has the top half of the screen like a panel of glass, it's only 5mm thick (or so), all the electronics is in the plastic case covering the bottom half of the back of the screen.
It looks like the GX has a plastic frame all the way around the back, it's still pretty thin at only 2cm. I prefer this as I have an arm wall mount and need to handle the TV to swing the TV from one position to the other. The CX is pretty flimsy for this usage.

Otherwise they're essentially the same TV in terms of performance.

          • @ESEMCE: So I can’t wall mount the CX at all?

I am planning to get one in future, but it must be wall mountable. If not, can’t afford the GX… will havo to go back to QLED

            • +2

@Blue Cat: You can, it just doesn’t come with a wall mount.

          • @ESEMCE: I have no idea but are you sure the gx has no feet? can be seen in pic 5 on Myers site

            • @aronjoberg: You can buy them, but they are not included (at least according to reviews)

      • +3

The G series is a premium model line but it’s not the flagship. That’s the 8K Z-series.

        • What is the difference between a flagship model and the premium model?

        • Good point, I forget about those because gamers such as myself are mostly after the 2.1 HDMI models.

          • @theory: This comes with HDMI 2.1

            • @amuthan: Another good point. I live in an apartment so haven't bothered looking at anything over 65".

  • Is $4117 for the 2021 LG G1 65" a good deal? $4795 seems to be the going rate at most places

    • Yes. Where are you getting that price?

      • +1

That would be Good guys Commercial

        • +3

yes GG commercial. Took the plunge and ordered one - sick of constantly checking OZB for OLED deals over the last 9 months

  • Insufficient stocks. Already..

    • +2

Yep, it's annoying that you have to go all the way through checkout to get that message. How many do you think there were? 1?

  • Thanks. Ordered one just now and got a order confirmation email. Cashback from shopback was $80.

    • Hi, I tried pm'ing you, wondering if you can share your invoice/receipt but obviously with the name/invoice number blacked out.

Would hate to miss out on a deal this good!

  • Just missed out on this deal, was about to head down to TGG to price match.

If someone could pm/post an invoice/receipt, that would be great!
