I have these and they sound pretty great (bass heavy), but noise cancelling is not as good as Sony or Bose.

  I'm seeing mixed reviews, suggestive of an almost v-shaped response… how much does ANC tame the bass?

    Yeah, I think even with all the settings set to help reduce the bass, its still pretty damn strong. You gotta love bass I think.
