Today is launch day for Mechwarror 5: Mercenaries on Steam (in fact, anywhere apart from the Epic game store).
They've also launched the much delayed DLC at the same time.

  Used to love the old Mechwarrior games. This one any good? I do remember the initial reviews was that it was a grind fest.

    No idea - I'm downloading now. By reputation the game was quite mediocre at launch, but it can be made good with mod packs available at nexusmods.

    That being said, the new release is apparently significantly updated.

      Nexusmods… not sure why but nude robot skins came to mind straightaway.

    Different gameplay genre, but I preferred the turn-based BattleTech instead. Lots of overlap between the two games really, but MW5 felt far more restrictive in the way you could load out your mechs, and had nowhere near the same amount of out of combat progression. Completely different feel of course not being at the helm of the mech yourself, so ymmv.
