  • Excellent pricing. Comparable to the $699 Fenix 6X Sapphire that JB had on sale back on Black Friday sales last year. Only differences really are the battery life and the 0.1” screen diameter difference (six data zones vs 8 maximum on the 6X).

    • +1

The 6 battery is plenty for anyone.
I've never gone close to having mine go flat. I only charge it when I'm showering so it probably gets 15 minutes charge a day and that's been plenty.
I'd say I do around 2-4hrs of activities a week which is what uses the batteries the most and I don't use any power saving functions.

    • Doesn't the X also have a solar panel?

      • They all have a solar versions now. You can either have Sapphire or Solar (or normal) but can't have solar and Sapphire together, yet.

      • 6X Sapphire OR 6X Solar.

  • I just got one yesterday for $650 :( it has not arrived yet. Do I have an option to cancel and get this one?

    • +1

Yeah you can return the first one when you receive it or ask them to cancel the order if it has not shipped yet.

      • I bought it from Amazon yesterday but it hadn't shipped yet. Requested a cancellation and it was processed in a couple of minutes.

    • +1

When you buy this from Amazon get them to ship it directly to JB for a refund

  • Just confirming is this the fenix 6 pro sapphire? I was comparing features on garmin and couldn't find a fenix 6 sapphire.

    • +4

Sapphire is the model above pro. Has all the pro features + sapphire screen.

      • Also has a stronger bezel than the pro.

        • +1

Yes, I think it's carbon or "diamond-like". The Sapphire edition is basically indestructible.

    • As DYEL said. And model numbers match on Amazon (Garmin Fenix 6 Sapphire) and garmin.com (fēnix® 6 Pro and Sapphire), both are 010-02158-12
Had to buy one, hand twitched by itself. Even when I already have beloved Instinct :)

  • Found the 6S as well from the same seller as well. Thank you

    • I can't see the 6S Sapphire on any great discount - what price can you see that model for?

      • 6S Pro not sapphire which is what i was looking for

  • +1

TA - there goes my $584 (less cashback)…

    • I am not sure if Cashrewards is eligeble for this:

      Electronics
      4.00% cashback
Bluetooth Speakers, Bluetooth Head & Earphone, Stereo Components, Speakers, Other Electronics
Exclusions: Amazon Devices, TVs & Accessories, Computers & Accessories, Printers, Projectors, Musical/Recording Equipment, Blu-ray Players, Projectors, Game Consoles, Mobile Phones & Accessories, Home Automation, Soundbars, Smart Watches

Seems like Smart Watches is excluded…

      • Shopback says - Mobile Phones & Wearable Tech (Includes Smartwatches, Fitness Trackers, Dashcams, Tablets, Navigation) 5%

      • use Shopback. 5% cashback for Mobile Phones & Wearable Tech (Includes Smartwatches, Fitness Trackers, Dashcams, Tablets, Navigation) on Amazon

        • That is what i used before i posted this deal, as i saw the exclusion from Cashrewards. Just wanted to highlight it for others i guess.

        • +1

Man, Shopback's page is all over the place. Also says this which made me use CR instead:

As of 1st May 2021, Cashback is eligible for Baby Products, Camera, Electronics, Luggage

And the top listing for the Amazon page for this is Electronics. Though you think this would clearly be a Smartwatch/Wearable, so who knows.

edit: should be fine as the specific Amazon listing is: Electronics›Wearable Technology›Smartwatches

        • Does a payment using Amazon Gift cards make this eligible/ineligible with Shopback cashback?

          • @sydney_kings:

            • Cashback is only payable on order value (excludes taxes, shipping and packaging costs) and is valid on orders paid for with gift cards (not orders with Amazon credit)

So looks to be ok :)

      • +2

I used Cashrewards buying this watch from Amazon and got 4% cashback tracked.

  • -1

No idea why I bought this as already have a GW3 and GW4 is out soon but I like playing with tech.

Should be $555 after shopback 5% for electronic?

    • I'm still waiting for my cashback to be tracked by ShopBack

      • Mine also has not tracked from about 5.22am

        • +1

          mine has tracked now: $26.55

          • +1

@kyan8: Mine has finally tracked too

  • +1

It's good price but I am waiting for the discount of Garmin Fenix 6X Sapphire

  • +4

    Shopback never pays…

  • Though tempting, my garmin fenix 3s is still going strong after 5 years!

  • +1

Just ordered one to replace my ageing Galaxy Watch LTE. Both JB and Rebel wouldn't price match which is a shame. I'd rather buy bricks and mortar store if possible. Interestingly JB said they offered 2 year warranty but their website only states 12 month. I've been waiting for a deal on the Fenix 6 for a while now. Great deal OP, thanks👍

    • +1

      Most welcome :)

    • 2 year ACL warranty for devices > $1k?

  • Good price. I have the 6X Pro Solar and I do find it a bit large, so large that I can't really wear it all day - especially when in business shirts so I use an Apple Watch during the day and the Fenix for sports and fitness.

Was thinking about downsizing to the Fenix 6 and then offloading the AW to keep things more simple, but the 6 Sapphire weighs 83g while my 6X Pro Solar weighs 82g (Titanium case)… it doesn't really seem that much smaller either.

  • Given that they are roughly the same price now, how does the Garmin Fenix 6 watches compare to the Samsung Watch3?

I'm wanting a daily nice-looking and comfortable watch to wear to work, gym, and for sleep tracking.

    • +2

It really comes down to how you use them. A few things to take into account -

If you want great smartwatch functionality with ok fitness tracking, watch 3 might work better. It has an amazing screen but battery 1-2 with always on display. Plus the support from Samsung will end after 3 years, in case you want to use your watch longer than that.

Garmin Fenix 6 on the other hand is an industry leader in fitness tracking. You can track almost everything and do a data analysis on an abundance of running/ cycling/ swimming matrices if you're serious about that stuff.
But has very basic smartwatch functionality but
You can still store music, view notifications, reply with 'canned' responses but it doesn't have touchscreen (in my case I actually prefer that because I track my swims and use it in the pool). It has always on display and battery lasts me 7+ days with moderate use. Also Garmin likes to support their products for yonks (the fenix 3 that I gave to my brother is still gets occasional firmware updates). App store is even more basic then tizen.

I gave away my watch 3 once I started using the fenix just because of the battery life and it got me more serious into fitness and after the initial 'fun', I wasn't really missing the watch 3 smartwatch functions (other than the text replies).
      Hope that helps

      • Thanks mate. Do you use the Garmin for sleep tracking too?

        • +1

i wonder about this too… big metal watch can hurt someone's face in bed :-D

        • +1

I did sleep tracking for a week, now I don't care as much (the value add wasn't there for me). Iused to wear a mechanical watch which is almost twice the weight of this watch so I didn't notice the weight of this one that much.

I know a guy at work who wears fenix during the day and vivosmart 4 at night. They're both Garmin to the data gets synced. I think it's clever if you can be bothered, afford it and find fenix too heavy for sleep.

          • @yeahitshot: Good idea! never thought about swapping between two Garmin watches, think I will keep my 245 as a spare in that case.

    • +1

They are two totally different watches. Fenix is all about outdoors - trails, open water swimming, cycling it's great. For daily use, I found fenix too bulky. Every morning when I put on my shirt, it would be caught by the sleeve when I put my arm in.
If you don't do marathon, ultra marathon, ironman stuff, I think Samsung watch 3 is enough for you and probably better.

    • +1

Want serious fitness tracking get this, want a better smart watch get the Samsung.

Think this might be significantly heavier than the same Samsung.

      • Or if you're just prone to breaking things. The fenix line of watches are usually dam rugged. Can't speak for Samsung.

  • Looks like it's now sold out

    • @eruption @karankadam @chrisandrew

Available again, in case you were still looking

      • Thanks for the heads up mate

  • OOS?

  • +1

Purchased, thanks op… didn't know i needed to speed 600 on a watch today!

    • Enjoy! Neither did i!

  • Forgive my ignorance but how do I get this deal? Link goes to buying options all over $1200

    • It looks like it's sold out.It was really good while it lasted.

JB Hi-Fi deal for $649 is still active, so possibly Amazon will price match (and maybe beat) it if they get more stock:
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/626046

    • lol thought it was going to be a vid on Fenix 7 :(

  • rebel sport has them for $649 for those that missed out

    https://www.rebelsport.com.au/p/garmin-fenix-6-sapphire-smar…

  • +1

back in stock at $584 price. Incredible deal, but can't convince myself that the upgrade from the 645M is justified at the moment.

    • Pull the trigger, I'm loving mine!

  • I have apple watch 6 shall I buy this one just for my run?

    • +1

Well of course Miss Piggy. Why not buy a watch for every day of the week.

  • My wife just price matched this for me at Rebel Sports with no resistance.

    • okey dokey - how's the watch then 😂

      • Dunno, not allowed it until next week for my birthday 😂

  • Received mine today from JB and saw that this was back in stock on Amazon. Called up JB and they refunded me the difference =D. Bought from JB with discount gift cards and used the Afterpay $20 off first purchase deal (although the $20 off never appeared and they're still 'looking into it' after receiving a few annoyed emails from me).

  • Thanks, was waiting for stock to be replenished.

  • Showing $648.85 today, hoping for another drop back down to the deal price
