Fossil are fashion watches, for this kind of money or less you can buy something that you can wear swimming from a reputable watch making brand like Casio.

    • totally absolutely definitely agree

I have my casios which are my reliable workhorses who will outlive me however I do like the style of this watch and the price is great.

You can wear a Fossil swimming.
And I'd never buy a Casio made after 1990 :-)

This Grant series of Fossil watches is actually quite decent value for money. I have a couple of these that are going well for last 4 years with only 1 battery change required for each so far.

  • These are made in China fashion watches. I don't think their quality is very good. I'd invest a little more money into a reputable watch brands. Apart from Bvlgari I wouldn't buy any fashion brand.
Stick with your seiko's citizen etc

    • Lol what a joke, I will leave those as a gift for my grandfather.

Even if the watch lasted longer than a couple of years I would just buy other watches. Unless we talking about Rolex and watches that go up in price and seen as collectible a watch is meant to be a Fashion accessory. Can you just not check the hours on your phone nowadays because they are connected to the internet more accurate than whatever watches money can buy?!

Also, this “china” made watches have a great warranty and if something goes wrong you have physical stores representing the brand? By the way, I haven’t seen a seiko or citizen store for the last 15 years only resellers that have them at the very end of the store where all 80 years old meet to have a chat.

I really don’t understand Why would someone stick to a ugly/non fashion brand ? Ridiculous.

Edit: Btw fossil does have low end watches, this is not one of them.

Your bias / hangup must be increasingly limiting, especially when considering phones, cars, bikes etc. Watch enthusiasts tend to judge a watch for what it is, which is nice. For example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=890VnUwq0CY

I got my Steeldive homage of the Grandpa Seiko dive watch the other week and it's awesome!!!
          Amazing specs for the price.

I wish my Grandpa bought a few original Seiko dive watches in the early 80's, they are highly sought after now and worth a lot of dosh.

          • @WatchNerd: sapphire (picture homer drooling) 😝

@WatchNerd: I'm normally picky with your watches as I don't find them attractive lol but I completely missed this one. It's the nicest one I've seen you show. I would have actually bought this as well. .. sigh

You are very well entitled to those decisions. I for one care about the movements and the longevity of the watches I buy. I do spend a fair bit of money on watches as it's my hobby. I always do my research before i buy. And there are very few watches in the fashion world that hold their value well. I am trying to convince my wife to also see it that way but she prefers the fashion brands and that's completely fine. If you choose to go fashion brands it's still better to go with a reputable movement. E.g Tiffany, Hermes and Gucci still use Swiss movement. I cant tell you what ones exactly as I'm not that invested in those watches but people in the watch scene will most likely advise similar.
