$476 Worth of Upgrades with Pro-Series Desk Purchase ($879-$2359) + $49.95 Delivery ($144.95 WA/NT) @ Updown Standing Desk

80

First post as a rep, also coinciding with the soft-launch of our 3d functioning standing desk builder.

SUMMARY
These are our top-end Pro-Series desks (10-year warranty, 30-day returns, highest specs). The EOFY offer is $476 of extras (while stocks last) with a Pro-Series desk frame and a desktop.

US
UpDown Desks is located in Melbourne, owned by myself and 4 mates (I went to school with 2 of them :D) and has been in business for about 5 years.

DETAILS
Four upgrades included in the offer are (I'll add a detailed description for any newbies) -

1. Cable tray
These are normally attached under the desk at the rear (3 self-tapping screws included). Cables run over the back of the desk or through drilled cable grommet holes into the cable tray so you don't have cables hanging everywhere. Normally you will put a power board in the cable tray and plug everything into that. The power board is then the only cable hanging down to the powerpoint and should have enough length to allow the desk to move to its maximum height. Cable trays are large - 70cm long, 11.5cm tall and 7.5cm wide - but if you have heaps of cables you can attach 2 cable trays. I have a laptop, printer, monitor and lamp on my desk and my cable tray is about 2/3 full.

2. Anti-fatigue standing mat
I think these are essential if you are standing on a surface that is not soft/comfortable. The mat is spongy and supportive. When I stand on my timber floor at home with just socks on, I start to get uncomfortable after about 5 minutes, but a mat increases that time to over 10 minutes. I think it is the most necessary item for a standing desk because it allows you to stand for longer. When not using it, I push it back under the desk. Some people just stand it up next to their desk. You should never put a chair on these mats as they are designed to be soft, so chairs will damage them. One thing to note is that if you want to push the mat to the back when not using it, make sure that the legs of your desk are more than 90cm apart when you install it.

3. Power Rail
This has a bracket to connect to any edge of your desk. Allows you to quickly USB charge or plug in a laptop without having to crawl under your desk. Disclaimer - I don't have one personally as I don't need that functionality.

4. Metal drawer
A solid, lockable metal drawer that hangs from the underside of the desk, so it is always at an easily accessible height. You can use the top of the drawer as a shelf too. If you want a bamboo drawer instead, just make a note in the checkout Notes field or contact us [email protected] but be aware that the bamboo drawer does not have a shelf above it and bamboo drawers can be a bit tight at first to open and close, but will loosen a little over time. I have a bamboo drawer which I really like the look of. The thing to be mindful of when you are ordering a drawer is if you are ordering a smaller size desk i.e. 120cm or less, then consider your legroom as the metal and bamboo drawers are both 340mm wide.

The upgrades will be colour matched to your frame colour choice (except for the anti-fatigue standing mat which is black).

Shipping will be $49.95 for most people.

The Pro-Series desks are not cheap desks and are really aimed at health-conscious professionals who spend a lot of time at a desk. A large percentage of our customers are software programmers. They are high quality, highest spec, very sturdy and customer service is superb - see Google reviews here.

For desktops, it's worth checking out the Australian hardwood tops for the Pro-Series desks -
- Recycled Messmate
- Messmate
- Vic Ash
- Jarrah
All the timber in the Australian hardwood tops is from Australia and they are all made in Australia. Definitely more expensive, but a Pro-Series desk is a long-term purchase and a significant, beautiful furniture item.

Our customers are pretty proud of their desks. I've uploaded a few (permitted) photos and videos of our Pro-Series desks in action that our customers sent to us.

Here's some standing desk comparison info that Anthony (the guy who is most often on live Chat) put together -
- https://updowndesk.com.au/pages/standing-desk-comparison
- https://updowndesk.com.au/pages/standing-desk-frames-austral…

Installation of a Pro-Series desk with a desktop is about 20 minutes for a pro and 45 minutes for a non-handy person and all the videos are here, (done by Anthony again!).

If you just want to buy the Pro-Series frame and attach your own desktop, then we have 10% off this month. This is not too difficult to do - you basically just screw the Pro-Series frame onto your own desktop. See Anthony's how-to video.

Feel free to ask me any questions here or by PM - more than happy to help.

  • looks like excellent value with all the inclusions, thanks OP

Question - does this also include the Pro Series frame only? Never mind, found the answer.

    • Good job :)

  • Actual price should be in title. E.g. from $879.

    • Thanks dischucker - updated.

  • Is the 150kg load in addition to the weight of the motors as they go up and down with the desk? Or is it inclusive?

    • That's how much the frame (which includes the motors) is rated to lift. So typically, that means the desktop plus everything on/attached to the desktop.

  • For your comparison page, both ZenSpace and Desky now have "mini" smaller tops available too.

    I'm looking for a 1000x600 desk…

    • That's a small desk! For the desktop, you could also get something from Bunnings or go custom made or IKEA e.g. This for $25.

If you source your own desktop, the Pro-Series frame will be able to handle that size - just don't install the spreader bars between the legs as they limit the minimum width to 1050mm minimum.

      • Yeah I'd avoid Ikea as they're paper-filled and not even solid particleboard.

        • Yes, agreed. Really only if you're on a super-tight budget.

  • +1

The base price has been increased for this promo.

    • Do you recall what price it was previously?

      • $699 as the base price for the frame only. Currently labeled as $739
