Is your son using a laptop? what model?

Are you only wanting to upgrade router to help your son's Fortnite or are there other issues you're having with your current router?

The reason I'm asking if everything's working well and you just need better wifi coverage, mesh wifi points may be a better spend of your hard earned dosh.

      • Hi mate I have fixed to noad ( fttn ) I can use this ?
Or still I need modem ?
        Thanks

    • He is playing fortnite on ps4 but i do plan to upgrade to ps5 so i was thinking maybe to get some wi fi 6 router to take advantage of ps5 wifi6 compatibility if i ever mange to buy one

But yes this current router is working fine. My main issue is wifi coverage. I did get wifi repeater but if anything that made his latency even worse

In master bedroom wifi signal is so bad i have to switch wifi off to use mobile data

Are the mesh wifi points compatible with my old router and are they hard to set up?

      Thanks for the help

The Archer is no longer needed. Swap the Archer with a Deco X20 or M5 bundle of 2 or 3. Plugin a Deco to the NBN box and if far away enough place a Deco in or near his bedroom. Setup is quick and done on a mobile or tablet.

And if you do get the 3 pack, you can have put one in the master bedroom too.

  • You need wifi mesh, turn your old router into a bridge.

So your ISP > old router bridges your internet > into multiple wifi mesh points

for something cheap to try out, just get the Tenda Nova 3 packs MW3 or MW6

example picture of the app on your phone after you have 4 mesh points in house

    • That config is for FTTN. The nbn box for HFC does the bridging. The HFC config is ISP —- nbn box —- MW6.

  • Thanks guys ordered deco m5 3 pack

  • Guys i got deco m5 and connected it directly to nbn modem and coverage is excellent but world of warcraft had become unplayable. Game is stuttering with high home network latency

I tried reinstalling a game updating video card drivers disabling all in game addons running a game in low resolution updating deco firmware and optimizing it for gaming etc but nothing helps

Game was running fine on old archer 1750 so my question is can i somehow have both connected so i can connect my pc to archer as i used to and the rest of the devices to deco m5???

If thats possible how would i go about doing that?

    • Play WoW during the day to check it wasn't a problem on Aussie BB or WoWs end. Does using Ethernet on the PS4 and PC fix it?

    • You connect the NBN modem to the Archer and the Archer to the m5.
You need to go into the Archer configuration and turn wi-fi off. Then on the deco config set the them to AP (access point) mode. The Archer will do the routing and the decos the wifi. You can then connect your PC directly to the Archer.
