Dahua IPS WQHD 2560x1440 31.5" Monitor (60Hz) $225 3Y Warranty Free Shipping @ Mwave

50

I purchased one of these when they were on sale last time, and now use one on a VESA mount with my Philips 32 2k WQHD.
2k WQHD/QHD/1440p works well for me at this screen size, I find 4k to create text that is too small, and it seems challenging to do this without thunderbolt ports etc.

Note they sell it as a 60Hz monitor but I have it running fine at 2k WQHD/75Hz over DP together with the Philips monitor (at 60 Hz) with my Lenovo S540-13

MWave appear to have a free shipping promo for EOFY, combined with a good price for this screen.

The main drawbacks to consider have been its DC power supply, which has a fairly short cable from the brick to the monitor, meaning it needs to be mounted on the desk, the lower than usual VESA location may make dual external arms tricky with different screens, and the lack of speaker could also be a problem for some.

For me the screen has worked well for the last few months, screen appears bright and uniform, and getting 300 nit brightness, 2k and IPS at this price point seemed a good deal.

My comment from when I purchased it in the last deal:

TL;DR The screen seems okay, particularly for this price. No flicker, but uses fairly large a DC power brick with a short output cable.

For me good points:
Works at 2k WQHD 60 75Hz without any fussing about.
The box branded with "flicker free" and low blue light.
Image seems reasonable, no flicker detected with camera phone and high shutter speed.
No dead pixels at first (rough) glance
There are 5 inputs -2x HDMI, DP, miniDP, VGA inputs
Control is via joystick on the back/right side - fairly intuitive, click to power on/off left/right to adjust, down to select, up to exit etc.
Matte screen

Not so good
it uses a fairly large 12V 4.5A DC adapter brick with a fairly short output cable with barrel jack for power, meaning the brick needs to be on the desk for most situations.
Viewing angles not as wide as I was hoping for, with image contrast falloff when viewing off centre but it is "ok for now"
No speakers, but at least there is a headphone jack for audio
VESA mount is lower than my other screen, so will need an adapter or I need a set of 2 independent arms instead of the one I have which needs the mounts at the same offset from the monitor base.

This is neither WQHD or 2K.. it's a 2560x1440 QHD monitor.

The accepted TV/monitor resolution closest to 2K is 1920x1080 (FHD), as it's 80 pixels shy of the 2000 mark horizontally, which is the whole point of the 2K/4K/8K/etc cinematic standard.

    • You are right 2k refers to something else alltogether
      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2K_resolution

      2.56k?

      Wikipedia - WQHD

      What is WQHD
"You may also see QHD resolution referred to as WQHD, which stands for wide quad high definition. These two acronyms represent the same resolution"

      • QHD and WQHD shouldn't be used interchangeably, as WQHD is used to refer to ultrawides.

This is a combination of marketing, foolishness, and a lack of resistance to that, which leaves the ultrawide market confusing for those who are 'window shopping' online.

HD is 1280x720, QHD is 2560x1440, ie. four times the resolution.

        • Shouldn't maybe, but it is already out there stated as one and the same. Can't put the genie back in…
Hey, at least it is not to be confused with qHD lol.
