    More like 300-600lm

  • "60,000"

  • +7

This is what an actual 60,000 lumen flashlight costs and looks like :)

    • "Low: 3250 Lumens - 5 Hours"

      Ha, wow.

    • Why pay $999.95 when you can pay $5.95 for two?

    • No, the liteshop is lying too.
That 60,000 number comes from adding the max lumens of each emitter from the datasheet, ie under ideal laboratory conditions, with liquid cooling.
In a real torch, you get a fraction of that. Maybe 12V@1A per emitter, high junction temp.

Try this one: (only us$7500 used)

      https://www.ebay.com/itm/Spectrolab-SX-16-Nightsun-helicopte…

      datasheet:
      http://www.spectrolab.com/searchlights/pdfs/SX-16%20020910%2…

60,000 lumens, as seen on police helicopters.

      • I'm fairly certain it can hit, at least fairly close to 60k lumens for a short while. XHP70.2s are capable of much more, see here.

There's also a estimate of 57.6k from this video.

Happy to be proven wrong tho.

        • Ask what the lumens per watt is. At a realistic junction temp. Then calculate the watts needed, and the cooling system.

OK, maybe for a few seconds? You could pull 500W from the battery if you use cells capable of 20A, and starting with a cold heatsink the emitters will be efficient, but the lumens will start to drop immediately and in less than a minute it will be too hot to touch. A very impressive torch, but that little fan is not enough to sustain such output.

But 8000 lumen for a 2 hrs is still crazy bright!

          • @bargaino: Oh yea, definitely only for a couple of seconds.

Manufacturer says cells eight Sony VTC6s (I would assume 2S4P), so definitely quality and capable of that over a short time period.

Fun stuff, maybe one day :)

  • Got this the last time, they're not bad, feels like just under 1000lm but still very bright

  • +3

I hate bright bike lights as it is (as a pedestrian).. I don't want to imagine some idiot cycling at me with 60,000 lumens.

    • +5

I hate bright bike lights too (as a cyclist!). This light is going to fall well short of 60,000 lumens so I wouldn't worry about that.

Still, I do wish more cyclists would aim their lights down for the sake of their fellow path users. I honestly don't think those that aim them at eye level really know how bright and glaring they are to other users, and they're not doing it maliciously. But I haven't figured out an effective and polite way to tell them to turn down their high beams as they wizz past.

      • +2

Just have to continue launching a cutoff broom handle into their spokes meanwhile until you do. ;-)

I don't know why people point them high, up off the ground. It's the ground you have to see, a couple/few meters ahead of the front wheel. My light accidentally tilted horizontal once and I hit a pothole and nearly came off.

        • Yeah i don't think the broom handle solution really fits in with my desire for a polite and effective teaching moment unfortunately.

From my own observations, the lights pointing horizontal or up tend to be wielded by less experienced riders. People who have a reasonable anxiety about not being seen, but perhaps haven't got the experience knowing what effect that has on others.

Then again, there's the occasional helmet mounted mountain bikers who seem determined to burn retinas.

I blame the manufacturers. If a light is designed to be on a bike, it should have horizontal cut off built in, at least if it is marketed to commuters. Like those german dynamo lights have. Mountain bikers can have their wide beam of course.

    • +2

60000 lumens in this would require such a flow of energy that it would be impossible to hold within a few seconds and you'd very likely risk blowing the battery due to heat stress.

  • 60,000lm claim loses all credibility……but wondering if anyone knows of any decent chinese bike light brands out there that have reasonable claims and decent quality?

Was thinking of going a Gaciron after watching some youtube videos:

    https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002206470005.html?spm=a2…

But also don't enjoy the quality control/warranty lottery when it comes to buying stuff of aliexpress and was thinking of getting something local for double the price:

    https://www.bikebug.com/magicshine-allty-1000-front-light.ht…

    • +2

Magicshine seem to have built up some decent products & reputation over the years. Disclaimer, I've havent used them for a few years now.
If you're after cheap & cheerful and the timing works out, the Aldi bike light sets are great value for money.

      • Thanks Guyvb. Yep Magicshine are the front runner for me at the moment. That light I linked to even uses a Garmin style mount which is pretty handy.

I have had 3 consecutive lezynes up til now but my last one failed due to a mounting issue and is now 'mounted' via elastic bands + silicone straps.

Heard good things about Aldi, they are OEM Moon last time I checked. But yes, the timing of the sales is never right for me!

      • Have you used/opened the Aldi one? I bought a red rear light from AE, and it's so unintuitive how to open it to charge the batteries, that I quickly broke it.

Oh and do they use AAA or AAs, or are they sealed with a rechargeable battery?

        • All the Aldi lights I have (about 5 sets, various generations) are USB rechargeable.

      • I had a Gaciron - the model with the yellow surrounding the lens - purchased it for $14 delivered about 4 years ago but since sold it with a bike. Crazy how the prices have increased so much since then

I recently purchased the cygolite metro 650 plus for $54.99 after stacking the $10 afterpay discounts with 2x gift cards purchased with cashrewards promos
        https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/274095746771

        • I'm not too suprised by the gentrificaiton of gaciron, although I hadn't heard of them til recently.

I guess the quality gap between Chinese brands and western brands (but made in china) narrows. But so too does the price difference.

I still think there's a value in western branded things - sometimes better quality control, often better warranty and replacement etc.

  • Amazing how prices of technology keeps falling :)
I bough it for a flashlight for the house .

  • I'll tell the kiddies not to burn their eyes out with the 60,000lm power .

  • +3

What’s with you freaks and torches?

    • ha ha.. i was thinking the same.. :-D

    • Its to get the gerbil to find its way out.

  • +1

    Good deal.
Also, these flashlight deals are a great example of why eBay is trash. Why do they allow such blatantly false advertising?

  • Got one since the battery alone is kind of useful to me

    • +1

I would avoid these unbranded 18650s like the plague. Just spend the $10 on a good Samsung 30Q.

      • But these are $3 a pop. Even if shit, still has its use o.O

        • $3 a pop until they literally pop. Then it's $3 plus whatever device you were using them in, and possibly part of your hand.

  • I got these previously, and they serve me pretty well as bike likes. One is now broken as the charging port had a piece inside snap off, I can charge the battery externally and put back in but less convenient.

In terms of brightness, the claims are over stated but I find it to be sufficient. I only ride at night (after 8pm), and the brightness is sufficient and not over kill for a Melbourne winter.

And for anyone worried, I have passed one person in the last two months of riding, so I'm not your culprit for blinding pedestrians and other riders!

  • Sad that it is rechargeable (can't use your eneloops).

    • Eneloops are rechargeable. Besides the fact that they're the wrong type of battery, why would using a rechargeable battery in a rechargeable casing not work?

  • $15.95 for non-ebayPlus members!!

  • Can it be used a torch for house use? :P

    • Sure. Why not?

  • And ozbargained!

  • Any offers on the 6 billion lumen model? I'm waiting for that one….

  • Anyone's order got cancelled? Just got a message from the supplier

  • Yep, mine got cancelled.
Gave excuse that they were not informed of the sale. Seems odd.

"Due to this listing has been participated in a certain promotion without any eBay notification, it caused lots of orders during short period and we can't adjust the inventory in time."

Annoying, they were perfect for camping trip later this month.

  • +2

received the same BS excuse. Negative feedback for sure.
They even marked it as POSTED.

  • Same here, cancelled although marked as posted…

  • +3

Same here, marked as posted, then message to say its cancelled.

    Hi,how are you?
Sorry to be a bother. I really don't want to let you down, I just received the email from our logistic department late that the item you ordered has been sold out. And we have no idea when we can get more in stock.

    My reply

    Hi there,
Sorry to be a bother. You are supposed to have stock of the items you have listed per eBay terms of sale. You are also not allowed to list stock you do not have available for dispatch. Irrespective of sale or not, if you don't have the items, don't list them for sale.
You've sold a product you don't have and the coupon used is not refundable. You will be receiving negative feedback., The item is indicated as already sent and you contact me to say you dont know when you will get it and that you are cancelling the order.
I realise I have to wait 7 days to leave negative feedback with your store, but it will be worth it. I've bookmarked the feedback page so that I can find it even once you cancel the order.
Poor form and well deserving of a negative feedback. This was avoidable

    • +2

It keeps going … but long story short, they will send the item now after threats of negative feedback.

  • +2

Beware this is a disgusting seller. Just noticed this seller is the same seller of the mini wireless keyboard. Last week they did the same cheating to the keyboard order, marked posted but said over sold. So far that order status was still marked as posted even they said it will be refunded in 2 days.

This week they are doing this cheating again!

eBay is suck to put this kind of disgusting seller in the promotion, not only wasting our times but really disgusted being cheated again and again. I will certainly leave negative feedbacks to both orders on eBay.

This seller is doing this over sold and mark as posted trick on purpose, disgusting!

    • If the item has not been canceled just put in a item not received dispute with ebay and give the seller negative feedback. I would then complain to ebay about the voucher no longer working and they should give you a new voucher you can use on any seller.

  • Order cancelled just like stated as above. :(

  • Got mine

    • Lucky you…I exchanged a dozen messages with the seller and still can't sort it out. It seems the seller doesn't even understand what are you saying…

      • well its not much, body looks solid, the led element looks like the whole thing is a DIY job

  • Got them delivered today.

    Cant complain for $5.
Does the job and looks great

  • also got mine delivered today.

finally replacing my trusty cree q5

    • Why replace it? I got the cree q5 many years ago from ozbargain and it is still going great. This torch seems like it uses a proprietary rechargeable battery and I doubt it will last as long as the cree q5 (I use eneloops in my cree q5).

      • coz it's just not bright enough. :)

the usb charging of this one is also much more convenient to use.

  • +1

Very bright torches, just tested mine outside. Will be good for night rides but also for regular use.
