JB Hi-Fi VS Harvey Norman

Hi Lads & Ladies

So from my credit card I recent closed, I have enough points to buy any of the 2 options below

$800 JB Hifi E-Gift Card + $20 DJ/Priceline Gift card

OR

$800 Harvey norman Gift Card.

Which one do you think is better value for money?

I am building a new house so I'll be buying plenty of electronics/appliances in the next 6 months.

Cheers for your help

    Take option c) cashback
Then cancel card and get it refunded into your main account.

Better than locking yourself into spending money at either of them.

Probably JB. You might get better value with HN if buying whitegoods but then you'd be supporting someone who expects to keep government handouts whilst making mega revenues.

    F*** Harvey Norman.

How much do you get at colesworth? - ie somewhere yoh will spend that money guaranteed…

JB, Gerry can go to hell. They all price match each other anyway.

    $800 JB Hifi E-Gift Card + $20 DJ/Priceline Gift card

    If you have to.

    JB.

HN is that overpriced that you'll only get $500 real value from an $800 card.

  • no bunnings gc available?

JB, personally would try not to support a business that doesn't support the community. If there are deals I price match elsewhere, fairly easy to do so.

Serious question: I agree 100% Gerry is awful and avoid his businesses completely, but why is there such an uproar about that tablet pricing error thing every time his name comes up? Pricing errors happen and - if the article is to be believed - the average order contained over 5 tablets. OzB'ers were clearly taking the piss.

What is the community so upset about here? That he called them professionals?

      • What a contrast to where he found out some of his goods were incredibly overpriced, and the solution he found to those who had spent 10X the value on a 'special' short HDMI cable that allowed the new "eArc" standard and was probably digital. That was about the best deal since traders in N.Z. were selling brand new "colour TV aerials" when colour broadcasts began.

You could have red, yellow, blue or green.

        • W… Was that a reply to me?

  • Option D: Westfield Gift Card. There'll be JB hifi in majority of Westfield plus Coles n Woolies, hubdreds of shops.

Can we black ban Gerry Harvey somehow?

Gerry has better quality brand names on appliances. JB is more for young students or professionals starting out and kitting out their home with cheaper brands.

Depends on what you prefer to spend the $800 upon. Walk around the stores to ascertain which caters for your needs and wants.

It's getting close to eofy sales. Wait. When you see something on special at either place which you'd like, quickly order the gift cards using your points and spend.
I actually haggled between them for a fridge, then got the appropriate gift cards and purchased from hn, who had best deal. Worked a treat.

My experience with HN was poor due to a young man who denied there was an ad saying discounts against pensioners discount. I said I will complain then he followed me and later admitted there is a discount but he sold stupid me a extended warranty.

Another occasion was when I purchased a set of dvd games in a box of which one DVD was missing. One young male sales assistant accused me of lying saying that I wanted one extra copy. If I wanted one extra copy I could have copied it myself, I know how.
Luckily his supervisor stopped him and told him it does happen in the production process.

My experience with JB wifi has been excellent. A mistake with a TV order, brought a personal email from the manager apologising and corrected the order.
