TV Has Gone Bust - Need Recommendations for 65" (Budget $1500)

Hi All,

I have been researching TVs for a while and still quite confused. Unfortunately, my current TV has gone bust today and have to look for a replacement.

Budget is less than $1500 - hopefully a 65". I was quite interested in the Hisense Q8 but read that it doesn't have eARC. I will be buying a soundbar soonish and having eARC would have been nice (I think?)

Usage: Streamed movies/TV shows and a bit of FTA. I don't need any smarts - have a chromecast but might upgrade to a Shield TV or something.

Recent deals include the HiSense Q8 and LG Nano86 (which I haven't read much good reviews on). Anything else that I should look at?

Edit: I will also go look for stock of X9000H if any left. May end up with a 55" given the budget but another one to consider.

  • If your tv still less than 8 years, most likely you can still ACL it :)

Ha ha ha! It's a bit over 10 years old. Had a good run.

    • How would I got about that? If I had a 5 year old JVC tv that is currently flashing red/green/white/black screen on startup for ~5 minutes each time I boot it up.

      • Call the retailer, report the issue and ask for it to be fixed. If they don't play ball, quote your ACL rights.

In all honesty though, it depends on how much the TV cost when you bought it.

So at the shops and have found the following

    1) Sony X8000H 65"
    2) Sony X9000H 55"
    3) LG Nano86
    4) Samsung Q60A

Will need to do some reading later

    65Q8 and the HS312

  • I don't know enough about TV's to give a recommendation but the good guys have a TV sale starting today.https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/tv-sale#

  • Went to check out the Q8 but they only had it in demo mode. So still a bit unsure about how it handles motion - the demo only has very slow moving video (unsurprising).
