Take every adventure to its peak
Guaranteed power: Experience powerful performance whether you're gaming or streaming thanks to AMD Ryzen™ 5000 H-Series Mobile Processors.

Keep cool: Our thermal systems utilize copper piping to dissipate heat as it’s pulled through the top of the keyboard and bottom of the system via four large exhaust vents.

Improved power: The latest improvements to our thermal design gives your system the thermal headroom to deliver ample power while adapting to a changing system load. This allows clock speeds to remain higher for longer, while keeping component temperatures cooler as well.

Storage makes all the difference: More storage means a faster start-up time which means you can get straight into gaming.

Full speed ahead: Killer™ Wi-Fi 6 AX1650 (2x2) technology, delivering data rates of up to 2.4Gbps and increased network capacity as well as Bluetooth® 5.2 support, for fast uploads and downloads, low latency and lasting battery life.

  • Looks very interesting on paper… anyone keen to try it?

    • the devil always in the details and fine prints.

RTX 3060 is allocated 125 watts power in case anyone is wondering https://youtu.be/jP03hGeXKa0?t=439

screen measured at 280 nits peak according to youtuber. with PWM flicker, 60% sRGB / 41.5% adobe RGB / 42% DCI P3 https://youtu.be/jP03hGeXKa0?t=307

      125W is good.

    • +1

That sRGB gamut range is just straight awful. No one should be using this display in 2021.

  • +2

    250 nits yikes

    • +3

It's actually tiresome to see posts like this. 250 nits is fine for SDR content, even with a lot of light in a room.

The issues with low brightness panels are:

      1. for HDR
      2. for power consumption when operating at normal conditions (likely 100-170 nits between indoor and outdoor conditions)

This panel doesn't support HDR, and without knowing more about the panel in use, it's impossible to say if it's going to drain a lot of battery in normal function (though testing suggests the battery life is great).

The real issues are that this panel is 60% sRGB in measurements, when you would never want below 90% in this day age (ideally 99% rating), and that it has PWM flicker due to how this panel's brightness is modulated.

So no, you don't want this display, but not for the number you've highlighted.

I was actually looking into this in the morning .. Thanks for sharing the further discount code.
I am still thinking 512GB is on the lower side. Asked Dell guys on the chat to upgrade, apparently, that can only be done via service request later on, which is pretty expensive :(
also, I asked about the power of the GPU and they could not really answer though this Youtube link shows 125Watts..

    • You're welcome (y)

  • I wonder if the screen can be upgraded.

    • +3

      easier to upgrade the brand.

    • Get an external monitor

    • Look out for the similar ASUS TUF A15 models that should be around this price in the mid-year/EOFY eBay sales.

Great value on paper but as others have pointed out the build quality and reliability is dogshit. Would not recommend…

    • +3

Quality is bad? I thought the Dell G series are ok?
      I've got the Dell G7 17" i7 144Hz RTX2060, seems alright.

      • +1

That's good to hear! I'll say now that I'm not talking from experience, simply reiterating what many were saying in the Dell G5 deal.

  • is it me, or does there seem to be a lot less dell/lenovo deals recently that have touchscreens…?

  • +1

I choose this one below (Asus ROG Zephyrus S15 i7-10750H, RTX 2070 Super) over this Dell

  • Only 15% discount ? Hard pass
    Wait until 30% discount applies.

    • +1

~ $1800 for a 3060 and 5800H is a pretty decent deal IMO. I'll take the AMD over an i7 anyday.

  • +1

    Screen sucks bad

    • Completely agree. Its what lets this otherwise awesome configuration down.

  • all, any feedback on 'Aftershock Vapor 15x' laptops

  • With a work discount and LOVEKEANU code, I can get this down to $1710… It's tempting, but not sure if I want the 3060 or potentially wait for Amazon Prime day deals.

    • Curious to know your work discount/method etc ?

      • Work for a big organisation, codes get given to us at work (e.g 40% off certain laptops) but only apply to RRP, so unfortunately don't stack with current EOFY discounts.

I was just mucking around with the codes to see what price I could get and found ILOVEKEANU worked.

  • It should be possible to get 10% cashrewards on these now using the LOVEKEANU coupon

I'm not 100% sure if this classifies as "G Series" though

I ordered a G5 desktop with 10-15 day delivery so I'll see if it tracks and if not may cancel/return

  • G15 line is now on eBay.

    $1784 with DELL20.

    • Cheers

  • This is now 1077 on US Dell, anyone know if bought in US (cld use dropship) if local Dell warranty is honoured?
