Recommendation for Video Player on Windows 10

For those who use Windows PC, what media player do you use to view video files (mp4, avi, flv…)?

I'm looking for a media player that I can use shortcut keys to move forward/backward in the video; also to control the screen size.

eg: fast forward in the video by pressing the right cursor key; and move backward by pressing the left cursor key.

eg: control the screen size by just pressing the digit key (i.e.: press "1" to half size; "2" to original size; "3" to 1.5x size; "4" to double size…)

In my old laptops I use KMPlayer which can do all of the above, but recent user reviews show that it's full of ads and bloatwares.

VLC player supports wide range of video format, but I don't think it has shortcut key for controlling screen size.

(First world problem, I know…)

    Potplayer maybe? https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/396710-Potplayer-how-to-…

I'm still using MPC-HC. Out of development since 2017 but it still works fine.

VLC has the screen size shortcuts. Go to tools, preferences, hot keys and double click to edit the shortcut.

Been using it for many years and it still works, it's lightweight, free from ads and spyware, supports every format I'll ever need it to, and easy to customise.

  • An alternative option is if there are menu options or (too-complicated) shortcuts for the functions you want, you could use AutoHotKey to take simple keyboard shortcuts and send them as the more complex one.

This method you could almost use any media player you like; as long as the functionality you want is there, and it's just the method of getting it you want to simplify

  • Don't forget the most important keys . Alt-Tab.

    VLC

  • Has to be the Pot Player

  • Is this to watch movies on at work and quickly minimize the window so the boss doesn't see it?
Otherwise cant see what use those requirements would be.

  • was a while i used smplayer, now its back to vlc

Another vote for Pot Player. Can customise the keys to what you like, and can add keys for almost every function.

Other players have customisable keys as well.
