Looks like a price match with Catch

  • What’s the best Pokémon switch game? My 10 year old son is obsessed with Pokémon at the moment and his bday is coming up. TIA

    • +2

My daughter and I are having lots of fun doing Pokemon Sword and Shield.

      • Thanks he plays these but doesn’t own them.

    • +1

Best is a bit subjective. The let's go games are a great basic intro into Pokemon games. Fairly easy game to follow, wild Pokemon are visible everywhere and the catch mechanic is interactive, but maybe annoying for others.

Sword and shield are also good in their own right. There's a lot to do and fun to play. It could a bit overwhelming following all the different features and functions, but your son may pick things up quickly!

Can't go wrong with either! Let's go would be the game I give if I knew a 10 year old who hadn't played a Pokemon game before, but SwSh is great too, some help may be needed though!

      • Also shiny hunting is far easier in the Let's Go games due to being visible in the overworld.

      • He plays the sword and shield games. He borrows these from friends at the moment.

        • Oh well if he's already use to that game, that might be the better option. Let's go is a great game if you'll need one down the track perhaps, but it is a bit different from swsh.

As someone who played the original gameboy games, the switch pokemon games are lacklustre. That said my niblings really enjoy sword/shield.

Your son may have fun with Pokemon Snap. I had fun playing this in short bursts at a friend's place.

My favourite game has been Luigi's Mansion. You can play co-op together and it's really good fun to solve the puzzles. Really awesome game.

I would own more switch games if they were cheaper lol. Why can't old switch games sell for $20 or something like PlayStation Hits titles.

    • +3

      Nintendo tax…

      • +3

Exactly. It's a deliberate strategy by Nintendo to give the illusion of prestige and value, not to mention compensate for the relative dearth of third party support. It's more long term minded as opposed to the other companies who are focused on first week sales above all else.

        • +1

Just makes me not buy them lol.

        • +1

Except the switch is currently like a golden era of third party support.

    • Because Nintendo will do a remake of a 15yr old games and sell it for full price and it still flies off the shelf

  • Is super Mario used?

    • Looks like it's sold out, Amazon must be holding stock for a lightning deal for Prime Day

      • You just need to click other sellers "New + Used" and it shows in the list for $49 new.

        • yep you're right for some reason in defaulted to the "used" stock - updated links to hopefully default to the "brand new" stock

  • +1

    i see Used - Good
    $43.12

    • Give it a refresh and click the links again, for some reason it was defaulting to second hand stock

    • Lol thanks for letting me know. I've impulse bought it.

  • Monster Hunter Rise also $49 https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B08JGPRL21/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_g…

Edit: just saw this on another post here, but still good to add to this list I think.

  • Only allowing me to buy 1 copy of 3D World so might be prime day deal

  • -3

Lets go and paper mario are easily found for 40-45 on fb market place, not that big of a bargain

    • +3

You’re comparing second hand to new?

  • Great, so my car's in at the mechanics with a hefty bill likely to follow and im here buying more switch games to add to my pile of shame #ozbargain4lyfe

  • 3D world appears to be out of stock.

    • Nope, it's still in stock. Just added it to cart then

      • excellent.
