    65" for $579
    3 year warranty is important.

    • Great price for 66” with 3 years warranty

    • Good deal that's no longer available.

Let me guess, another "new and promising budget-oriented Chinese startup" from one of the big conglomerates?

Teac's Japanese (Tokyo Electro-Acoustic Company). They've been around since 1953. They used to make top-notch Hi-Fi equipment up until the 1980s/early 1990s, then the brand became progressively more budget-oriented and moved manufacturing from Japan to China.

These days they're just re-badging other low-cost manufacturer's products as their own sadly.

TEAC is pretty old but on their wikipedia page i couldn't find anything about them making TVs so i'm not sure if this is them or not. Japanese corporation (the original, if this isn't the same one)

Since at least the 90's TEAC was always the cheapest name brand you could buy in consumer electronics.

This is from teac Australia, totally separate now to teac Japan.
It is a small public company ($3mil market Cap) formerly known as Incorporated Austral Waste

So who is the warranty provider?
Would Amazon, as the retailer, have to honour the 3 years when TTA folds? (And the directors start a new company on the same site, which buys the Teac brand from the liquidators.)

  • Completely unrelated but I have started seeing Amazon selling Sony TV (sold by Amazon AU), not just lesser random Chinese brands. Is this a recent thing? Here's hoping that helps drive TV price down plus Amazon unmatched CS.

  • Would be a great deal if one of the cashback sites covers electronics in time for this promo.
