  • Only the Enloop ones are rechargable?

  • Thanks! Was looking for a deal from eneloop AA (with charger) or energizer AA (without charger). Now I can switch from energizer to eneloop as reviews say latter is better.

I was hoping Amazon would match Bing Lee's deal on the AA Smart Charger. Not looking likely however.

Would not recommend a non-smart charger.

      • They're dumb.

        Liitokala, nitecore, opus or maha.

Find one in your budget, they're all smart.

To add to what krisspy said:

          • Nitecore make good chargers, but when charging more than two batteries at a time, they're slower than most other chargers (7 hours for eneloop AA batteries in D4, even longer in their other chargers).

          • No Liitokala charger comes with an AU mains adapter, only US, UK or EU plugs on these. You'll need a plug adapter. Liitokala are also frequently sold without any adapter. Lii-500 or Lii-500S are the best models.

          • Maha C9000 is designed for photographers, and is very fussy with batteries. If the batteries aren't in tip-top condition, it will just say the batteries are bad and refuse to charge them.

Also note that not all chargers from these companies can charge NiMh batteries, some only charge li-ion batteries (e.g. 18650).

          • @Russ: Good post^ . Been using maha c9000 for so many years now. Very accurate and reliable. And yes, in that period it has twice rejected old and bad battery that were well beyond repair, I treat that as a positive as this is what I expect a smart charger is suppose to do. Some of my eneloops are close to a decade old and Maha have taken care of them. Highly recommended

I use my "weaker" batteries in remote controls and clocks, but I had to buy another charger to charge them. Of all the chargers I have, the Liitokala Lii-500 is my favourite.

Aldi chargers are pretty good too, but with a much more limited display and no discharge nor testing modes, and only on sale once or twice a year. The Aldi charger will charge pretty much any battery that can take a charge, even old and damaged batteries. However Aldi chargers are different every time they come out, the next one might not be as good.
