I don't think 2x standard 4ah batteries are comparable to an 8ah HP battery, or at least the marketing would suggest which is that the hp has a performance benefit.

Arguably true, but quantity has a quality of its own, as the saying goes.

Yes, for example using one up and putting it on charge as you start on the second. Can't do that with one battery.

@gitl: And one huge battery is a lot more awkward to carry. I have a 2Ah battery in the mix for this reason. If I'm only doing a couple of quick things, the 2Ah is much easier to lug around

Purchased. Thanks. I hate not being able to complete the hedge in one day

The title reads funny to me, surely switch to 2ah + dual 4ah or some such. Read as 4 batteries to my strange brain haha

@Slippery Fish same here. Maybe needs an Oxford comma, to break it up.

Ah same, I got excited thinking it's a deal for 4x batteries

It's NOT for 4 batteries? I must be dumb…

Definitely the pick of the Ryobi Days deals. Unfortunately for me, I don't need any more batteries:)

Is the leaf blower a good deal?
I need one to get leaves out from under my solar panels, but I've never used one so no idea…?

I have not used that particular blower, but the spec is reasonable for the money.
Should work fine for your needs, unless the leaves are jammed in super tight.

Had been considering going down the path of bowing a little battery spot welder and replacements cells to rebuild my old dying ryobi batteries, but I couldn't do it any cheaper than this price. Ordered!

Genuine deal.

EBay copies are cheaper - anyone tried these ?

@punkel I've had success with them. Seem to last just as long as OEM, going strong after 4 years. The clip is a tad snug. One of mine must have dropped a cell, though. It trips out all the time with my leaf blower. In saying that, I just bought OPs deal. Nice timing to replace old units and I can make use of the 2Ah for low duty stuff like the work light.

I tried several, all had to be refunded in a few months for various issues.
If you have Ryobi and need batteries, just get this deal. More reliable, easier to return, someone to sue if your house burns down, etc.
The small saving on eBay knock offs is not worth it in this case.

The copies I tried were mostly fake capacity. The ones that did work degraded rapidly. I’d definitely pay for genuine at this price.

I bought a 4ah battery several years ago, has always stayed in my blower that I use regularly, and has never failed me. It's still going strong.

The clips on mine are loose and the battery frequently drops out of the hedge trimmer, I cracked the case one time when it hit the pavement and had to bind it with tape. I'd only buy genuine from now on.

Hopefully there will be deals on a pressure washer

I'm locked into the Ryobi ecosystem but for pressure washer I'd recommend the Ozito. They're great quality and bang for your buck, no other brands come close even when they're on sale. They're corded so you don't need to be in the Ryobi ecosystem.

bought the $198 twin pack 4ah a couple of month ago, this one feels way better.

I have been meaning to buy some gardening tools and wonder if this deal plus below additional tools are a good value purchase.

It depends on what your needs are. They’re cheap but they’re brushed. If you have feral gardens, aim for lighter, brushless versions which are a bit more powerful.

Hedge is fairly small. The whipper snipper will get more action.

40cm hedge trimmer is pretty small. How big is the hedge?

Maybe 6m long, 1m wide, 2m tall.

Ive had brushless mower, sniper, edger, and half a dozen other tools. Blower etc. All are good and worth the money.
Just do not! Buy to mowers. Electric especially 18v Electric mowers are useless on even medium size yards.
They're should be used for apartment, town house, type flat small yards.

I've got this - https://www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-18v-one-cordless-garden-bl…
got it on a deal. Works great for around the verandah and I did use it to clean out the gutters. Plenty of power and light enough to use 1 handed.
I did use my industrial vacuum for the stubborn leaves. I don't think the previous owners had cleaned the gutters for a couple of years.as for whipper snipper get a straight shaft.
Everything depends on how big an area you need to do.

I bought this as I had to also do my parents so I could add the edger.
Can an edger be attached to the line trimmer?

Yes the one I bought is part of the expand-it range. The edger was the main reason I choose that model. My parents house had a lot of lawn and it looked great for the opens.

Wow great combo deal.
Over various kits and deals over the years ended up with a similar combo at home and it works well - the small battery in the impact driver, the big ones for the bigger tools.
I'd still avoid the Ryobi ecosystem if you're not already stuck in it, but if you are then this is an awesome deal by Ryobi standards.

Why don't you like Ryobi?
What would you suggest instead for a comparable price?

I like Ryobi's wide range and they sometimes have good deals (such as this one). I also like how many people them.
I don't like that their 36V tools (with a few exceptions) require an entirely new battery, rather than simply bring able to use 2 x 18V batteries in parallel, such as you can with Ozito.
I also don't like the shape of their 18V batteries. Many brands once shaped their batteries the same way, but everyone else has moved on except Ryobi. It makes for some unusually bulky skins.
I also don't like that they are usually expensive, especially the unique pieces of their range.
If you're buying for home DIY, I'd opt for Ozito. If you're more serious, I'd pick Makita or Metabo.

Thanks for the info, appreciated! Yeah, I'm just a very casual home user, I just wondered if sales might justify something a little better, but will just go Ozito :)

I find their batteries don't last as long as other tools. The rubber plastics on the tool can also go a bit funny over time. They're just not designed to last, kind of get what you pay for. If you want to keep buying the same tools and batteries every 5 to 10 years, or don't think you'll need such a tool in that period of time, then go for it, otherwise worth looking at other brands. I still have a few ryobi tools but have decided I'm better off with a second hand dewalt, makita, bosch, etc than a new Ryobi. Ryobi are also Bunnings exclusive, so that can also be a problem.

Grabbed one thanks, those larger batteries are amazing for my blower.
Is there any way to test batteries to see which ones are on their way out? I have about a dozen of the normal sized ones and I reckon 4 or 5 of them are baked but I always forget to put them aside.

Just keep using them until they become annoying enough to warrant not using. It'll eventually become obvious.

Any feedback on how those vacuum's go for the price?

I've got. The portable vacuum is quite handy for the car etc.
The stand-up model has an excellent power head, but maybe not too much suck.
But it's more than enough to clean up my gsds hair after whatever the robot vacuum has missed

No love for 36v

looks like it's taken down. the link in the OP doesn't go anywhere

Picked up a set and a couple of other skins.
Scored a little Ryobi merch pack from the rep Instore.
Bucket Hat, Drink Bottle, couple of stubby holders and a pack of Clog (shoes) charms . Didn’t seem to be much else going on other than the listed deals. No real give always or anything.
Couldn't resist this deal especially with the 2x 4AH sadly had to get it delivered as my local store didnt have stock

Damn. Just purchased the twin 4ah pack for around $200

great deal! ordered one online as these are bound to sell out pretty quick.

DOH! I literally bought 2 x4ah and 1x2ah batteries several months ago.

You’ll have to buy this pack to lower the average cost…

Or two

All but one of my ryobi batteries died in under three years and they won't replace them without giving the whole kit back… I just bought a two set of batteries on temu. 8ah each for $70 - 50% cashback in a recent deal. They fit perfect to all my ryobi tools use the ryobi charger just fine and last longer between charges.
If they last three years their better than the brand name ones. Won't know for sure for two years and 11 months.
Please report back in 2 years and 11 months

Do you store them at 100% for months? Or leave them at 0%?
Let us know when your house burns down from the temu ones lol
Are you hoping my house burns down to justify you paying high Ryobi prices?
I also hope your not actually stupid enough to charge these in you house!! No matter the brand or lack of.

High prices is relative to each individual, you should try ozito if ryobi is too much? Or buy the Ozito to Ryobi battery convertor, then you still get 3 years warranty and cheap batteries!
Temu ones overstate their Ah rating, and usually die within 6 months though.

Looks like they pulled it from their site already! Was in need of a couple more batteries…

When was this due to expire?

This is very good value. The cheapest normal price per Ah is the $349 twin 8Ah pack at $21.81/Ah. There was a recent trade in offer that you needed an 18V battery you were willing to give up that came in at $18.90/Ah. This is $14.90/Ah with only a $149 spend and no trade in.
